The change in agent may have led to a change in heart about getting fusion surgery.

Letang was told that his recovery from fusion surgery for a similar injury was 4-6 months. That would align with the timeline that Simmer is talking about here.

We shall see what happens...

Shawn Simpson also said he was hearing Karlsson to Tampa was a done deal

Well, it's been months since he's tweeted out anything on Eichel. So, if that is the only source you trust on this topic, you will likely be waiting a long time.
And when he does you'll know it's the troof

Wow, price will be sky high at the trade deadline once he has played a handful of games. Opens up the market to lots of teams, especially those that have any injuries ~ cap space.

I went to Buffalo board and it appears Simpom is the first to report on this before any other reporter. Simmer either got the details from Brisson or his usual source(s) within the Sens organization. The latter would confirm the Sens being seriously engaged in Eichel negotiation. :D

The type of surgery would tell us who blinked first. A trade being held until December doesn't bode well for Pegula's pockets, but it does give Kevyn Adams time to acquire better deals than currently in the market. Not sure if holding that long is a good idea from Buffalo perspective, not sure how much better the offers get when you weigh the risks of a post-surgery trade.

If Shawn Simpson's impeccable source is correct, it could still be adr he's getting right? Wasn't recovery for that 6-8 weeks?

Simpson words the tweet as "December at the earliest".....which is in line with fusion. Some athletes respond to fusion in 3 months, some it takes longer.

In the case of ADR, December would be the worst case scenario.

Wait.. December's timeline is way to short for the fusion surgery. They were saying at least 9 months to recover from fusion..
So the fusion means ?Jack misses this whole season? No team will trade for him now, would they?

I think the Sabres should hold firm till 22 draft anyway to get any respectful return

Cat & Mouse.
That NMC will be on the horizon by then, meaning if they're waiting up that point and no one steps it up or teams call their bluff; he moves into the NMC and then the number of teams that'd be able to trade for him dwindles down.

Nah, Buffalo keeps him for their playoff push.

The NMC works against Eichel's interest in this case since he wants out. If Buffalo's the last place he wants to play, he either accepts a trade to any other team or he stays in Buffalo. The NMC isn't going to move the needle in either direction IMO, the $7.5 million signing bonus he's due at the start of next season on the other hand is more likely to be the point where Terry Pegula pulls a ROR and demands he be traded before he has to cut a check
