Don’t think we know all those details as to termination, but the CSKA deal probably got him out of military service, and then because he didn’t want to be there, they were done with him.

He re-signed with CSKA because he was nowhere close to NHL level after not playing for a year... and the AHL isn't very lucrative.

According to Boris Mikhailov (supervisory board on CSKA) he signed a 2-year deal with CSKA with the option of leaving for the NHL after year 1.

So he used this season to get back in good form.
He thinks he's ready.
I don't. He was pretty bad. But I hope he finds his game. Best of luck to him.

He may be the better option than sandström for back to back games. Could be the reason to grab or miss the playoffs cause one W or L could make the difference.
