If he takes until he's 26 to break out, I'd rather move him for someone who is already broken out in order to help this team take the next step sooner. I don't think that's ridiculous. Saying he's a bust, that's probably ridiculous. I just want to move him now if he's still a while away from contributing in a top six role.

How are you getting an established player unless it's a contract dump? If you have to use him as a sweetner, isn't it better to just toss in a couple 3rd or 4th rounders to even it out? This is the type of talk I remember around here with Calvin de Haan.

It wouldn't be a 1 for 1, but he could be part of a package for someone like Muzzin. I don't think that's inherently bad.

Who would give up an NHL player for Dal Colle?

There’s five impending UFAs up front.

Unless he’s bringing back an established NHLer like @PK Cronin is saying (which I personally don’t think is realistic), he’ll be given a deal similar to the one Toews got and will either make the team as a depth forward (like Kuhnhackl did), or continue to polish his game at the AHL level and wait for a call up.

He’s trending in the right direction and will cheap to keep in the organization for a couple more years.

It doesn't cost anything to keep him around, but there's also no guarantee he'll continue this type of production or that he could make the step into the NHL and produce like that. That's the risk. I won't be upset either way, but I lean towards trading him.

I really don’t think he would have much value in a trade because I don’t think he has top six upside.
At that point, you might as well keep him and groom him to be a defensively responsible third liner.

Eventually I want their third line to have more skill and be more of a “B” level second line, not a “A” level fourth line which is what I currently see it as, and I think Dal Colle has the upside to be one of the players on that line.

tl;dr good teams have skill up and down the lineup and when Dal Colle’s body catches up to his brain, he’ll be good bottom six option I think.

That makes sense if you don't think he has top 6 upside. I think his value may be high right now because of his recent turning of the corner in the AHL, so a team may think he'll be a top 6 contributor and be willing to accept him in a package.

Selling low on MDC at this point would be a mistake imho. I think his trade value, similar to JHS, is lower relative to his actual value. I would keep him.

Gotcha. If you could get top six value for him, I’d be curious to see what that would look like.

Josh Brook is a good Defensman. Also, his head coach For Moose Jaw Tim Hunter is TC headcoach for the WJC.
Dobson definitely on the top pair and being viewed/used as the #1. Pretty awesome.

Good for Dobson.
Coming out of the 2018 draft, some scouts were predicting he will be the 2nd best defensemen to come out of that draft behind the Sabres Dahlin.

Traded to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. Already have the best record in the Q, and Dobson will only improve that.

Hopefully we see a Bouchard vs Dobson finals in the Memorial Cup!

Wow. You guys have a stud in Sebastian Aho. Nearly a ppg as a Dman in the AHL is really impressive.

Not as much of a stud as the other one though ;)

Yeah feels like we have a solid D-core in the AHL right now.

The big question is besides Toews, does anyone else have real NHL upside.

I've always been impressed with Aho when he's been up in the NHL, but obviously his size works against him

Aside from our huge need at center, we lack a premium LHD that has top pairing potential. Toews and Aho are nice prospects, but their upside seems a bit limited.

Having Dobson and Wilde developing while Pulock is being groomed as the top pairing RD by Trotz, we have significantly more talent on the right side. Even Mayfield has taken big strides in his game. Boychuk will likely be a compliance buyout candidate and we will have Dobson/Wilde competing to take his spot in a couple of years.

We need to seriously beef up our left side. Leddy is flawed and is more suited for a secondary LD role, but it's all crap and potential (rather limited in this aspect too) after him. We need to add a left handed Dobson type in the system.

If we go d-man in the draft, I would be quite happy with Bowen Byram if we're in the position to get him.

We had another one of those guys in Matt Donovan a few years ago, ever hear of him? Didn't think so. We're hopeful this one works out better.

Aho could skate circles around Donovan. That's the big difference between the 2. Donovan was slower than Mayfield.

Watch Aho's goal from yesterday (12/16/18).

Dobson sits at -30 for the season. What are the odds he ends up the year as a plus player? I'm thinking pretty good....

Dobson moves to his new team after the WJC, as per Staple. So maybe that happens. going from a team that is 6-26-1 to a 28-6-1 team (Rouyn-Noranda).
