I'd take Karlsson over Provorov because his offensive abilities outweigh the defensive deficiencies so that makes him s better all around player but there are also guys that outscored Provorov (Petry and Yandle) that I wouldn't even consider taking over Provorov which is where the other side of the "all around" play comes in. I get it, you don't like the term for some weird reason but it's not new and I don't know why you're making it sound like it's a made up term to make Provorov sound better than he is.
Because its exactly that. Its the same term people used to make Toews "look" better than Crosby, or Trottier look better than Gretzky. Its always been this way, and this clearly was the intention with OP. Laughing at people calling Burns and Karlsson better than Provo

I just disagree, sorry. The OP isn't a Flyers fan so it's not like he has some bias toward Provorov. Again, I don't think Provorov is a top 10 defenseman yet so it's a moot point but I don't see how bringing up all around play is a weird concept to try to sway votes. Yes, saying he's better than Karlsson is silly but there are literally people out there that would say Provorov is a borderline top 30 defenseman because he was in the high 20s in points. There's one of those guys for every "Toews is the best all around player in the league" guy so it really goes both ways. Werenski blew away Provorov in polls last year because people just looked at points even though the only difference was PP points and ignored their D partners and play at the other end of the ice. This year when Provorov scored more all the sudden he's dominating Werenski in polls. I think the OP was just trying to make sure people considered all parts of the game instead of stat watching. I don't see anything wrong with that.

Top ten all around.... so basically you know hes not a top 20 D in the NHL, hes not a top 30 Offensive D in the NHL and hes not a top 10 defensive D in the NHL so you try to create parameters for him to be top 10

Tied for 8th in ES points and tied for first in goals for defensemen. Not a top 30 offensive D?

As a flyers Fan he is fantastic. really excited to see him grow here. Not sure I would put him top ten yet. To me that is something that is earned over years of play. He is definitly top 30. Looks like he is a top 20 but still 2nd year. Has the talent of a top ten.

Provorov will be a good #1 defenseman at some point. Where he falls in the pecking order is up for debate.

Can we also please end the narrative that Ghost is anything more than an average 2nd/3rd pairing D, PP specialist.

Sure, when "average 2nd/3rd pairing D, PP specialists" all start scoring 55+ points per season...? I don't think anyone out there's arguing that he's a shutdown machine, but the kid put up 65 points this year from the blueline and is a decent enough defenseman in his own end. Call him but you want, but there's nothing "average" about that.

Tied for the lead in goals, while only being on the 2nd PP unit, and top 10 in ES points for defenseman...but he isnt in the top 30 for offensive defenseman?
