What is worse: Laf hype or Zion hype?
Laf hype easily, Laf is a great prospect, but he wasn’t supposed to be as good as Matthews, Eichel and McDavid, now people are expecting him to carry teams to a cup all of sudden, Zion missed almost full season, in probably the most talented era of young players in the NBA and still looked like the prospect in the league by a quite a margin.

I think people saw McDavid and how quickly he became a superstar (since that never happens because the skill gap b/w pro and lower leagues Is too damn high so there are many players who get exposed) and moved the expectations onto him. If he struggles I won’t be surprised

I’d probably have him around 18-22.

These are a few guys that come to mind that I’d probably have over Laf.

McDavid
Draisaitl
MacKinnon
Pasta
Kucherov
Matthews
Eichel
Petterson
Barkov
Makar
Heiskanen
Dahlin
Hughes
Aho
Chabot
McAvoy
Point

Not even close. He might never even play a game in the NHL!! Or he might fizzle out like Yakupov did, after a few crap seasons.

Impossible to be a "top-10 asset" when that's the case. Gotta wait and see.

I'd say Lafreniere is probably a top 20 asset.

Here are the top 5

McDavid
MacKinnon
Matthews
Eichel/Draisaitl

Let the kid play a season before we anoint him a top asset in the NHL. Lets see how many goals he can score.

Pretty sure Laf is an all around monster like a Mcdavid/Mackinnon and not a trigger man like Matthews/Pastrnak so waiting to "see how many goals he can score" is a really weird thing to say. Unless of course you have some sort of agenda. :sarcasm:

You just showed your agenda, clearer than day, but everyone already knew that.

Just a trigger man?

But that's an assist not a goal so it doesn't matter right? Please help me understand.
But you said he is just a trigger man?

You are the one that is triggered, because you know he is 1 million times better than your favorite player.

I have zero interest in discussing this with you. It will not be a constructive conversation, so I am going to see myself out of this Convo.

My favorite player is Mackinnon, and no I do not know that Lafreniere is 1 million times better than Mackinnon. I'm just saying judging him purely based on how many goals he scores makes no sense because he isn't that type of player.

And yes of course Matthews is a trigger man lol. The fact you posted 1 nice assist he made as some sort of mic dropping irrefutable proof that he isn't is hilarious.

Oh I though you were a Pettersson fan lmfao !

Yeah, MacKinnon is the man. Not much else to say here.

I'm a Canucks fan but I wouldn't call myself a Pettersson fan. I think he's really good but I'm not as high on him as most Canucks fans.

Top 5:
McDavid
Draisaitl
Mackinnon
Kucherov

I'd probably have the kid in the 20-30 range with Eichel/Matthews for potential anyway.

Lafreniere beat out Makar and Hughes in recent polls, so I’m curious to see if the consensus has him as a top-10 NHL asset.

Think about this question as how many current NHL players, or prospects would you take over Lafreniere to start building your franchise.

Edit: It looks like I can’t change Top-20+ to Top 20-29, so just assume that the 20+ option is 20-29. Apologies.

Since I was thinking, my team should flip him, would you take him for Makar and/or Byram?
