McDavid is the best, he isn't Mario Lemieux or anything but he's clearly the best of this group.

Matthews and Eichel are on the same level.

Then there is Laine, the only winger and player who has legit good, proven linemates to start his career.

And then there's a random Leaf's fan with a track record of long anti-Laine campaign, shooting blank bullets.

Laine isn't the odd man out. You don't have to be a center to be the better player than the guy sitting next to you at the bench.

huh? McDavid doesn't have proven linemates? he had Hall and Eberle last year and Lucic and Eberle this year.

Matthews has Nylander, and Eichel has Reinhart and Kane. total rubbish to say Laine is the only one with good/proven linemates.

McDavid is the best. but the other 3 are all close right now.

i always laugh when someone (mainly Leaf fans) says Matthews is better than Laine. why? just because he was chosen first overall? Hall was chosen first over Seguin and Seguin is now clearly the better player. hell, Tarasenko went 16th in that draft and he might be the best of all players that year. DRAFT ORDER DOES NOT DICTATE HOW GOOD A PLAYER WILL BE. some of you Matthews thumpers need to get that through your thick heads. just because he was chosen first does not automatically mean he will be the better player from here on out.

i think eichel will be the worst of the 4. doesnt mean i think he's going to be bad at all.

I think McDavid is clearly the best. At this point its tough to say between matthews and laine. I'm leaning towards Laine. Then Eichel. Doesnt mean he's bad

He wasn't PPG in his rookie year, so far all the others are and have been.

I loved him when he was drafted, still do. But his production so far has been a little disappointing.

Weakest of the four? Relative to the potential of those 4, it's not an insult. But there's still a long way to go before the complete product is seen.

Not arguing your point because you're right, but McDavid played maybe 4 total games with Hall as his linemate (excluding PP).

When I watch Eichel, he doesn't live up to the hype. I also haven't watched too many of his games, but I watched him play about 10 full games and parts of others and he has some good highlights but I don't think he will be generational like everybody says, but still a pretty good player. McDavid is generational I've watched him about the same amount as Eichel and he is unbelievable. Matthews makes great plays and has great hands and hockey sense but I would say he's real close to Eichel in terms of ability to be a great hockey player. Laine is more inconsistent than all of the players and sometimes loops and plays too passively, but when he's on he can't be stopped and he has shown he can be super clutch in many games and his release is better than any of the 4 by a mile. Overall, they are all going to be great players and its hard to compare 3 centers where 1 is well above the others, 1 hasn't played at all this year, and 1 has less than 15 games under his belt and the other is a winger who does look pretty promising so far. I say we wait 5 years and see where they're all at
