I just looked at the ahl standings, thing that popped out to me was the absurd amount of OTLs the Ads have with 13. Next lowest is 8 and the average seems to be about 5 to 6. Very strange

I have posted several times about how badly the Admirals play in OT. I blame it on the choices by the coaching staff. You play 3 skaters and they will put a scorer out there with 2 puck hogs. The scorer never gets the puck during his shift. Most of the losses in OT that I have seen in person happened because the Admirals never got a shot on goal, versus the opponent having 1 to 5 shots.

It isn't strange, it is sad and it is poor coaching!

(Some of my posts are #405 and #409. AF24's is #455.)

Milwaukee won at Rockford 4-2. They are now in 4th place in a horse race in their division. If the playoffs started tomorrow, they be paired with the Chicago Wolves. Chicago has 88 points, but has not clinched a playoff spot (Magic number of 2), going 4-0-0-1 in their recent games. Rockford now has a maximum of 88 points, thanks to 3 regulation losses in a row to Milwaukee.

The Ads maximum is 89 points, they currently sit at 73, as does Texas, but the Ads have a game in hand versus the Stars. Milwaukee is 4-0-1-1 in recent games, giving them 10 points in 6 games. Texas beat Manitoba, limiting the Moose to a maximum of 90 points, but the Moose have a game in hand versus the Admirals.

Edit: I forgot that Watson had 2 goals and was the #1 star of the game.

Not sure your opinion AF, but given the 3 choices of opponent, I'd actually take Chicago in the first round. We're one of the few teams that seem to match up well (at least when we're on the road there) and they're banged up. (Then again, I'd be happy to make the playoffs.)

I can live with Chicago as the opponent. It cuts down on travel and Milwaukee fans hate Chicago teams, so that would boost the usual meager playoff attendance for the Admirals. If you knock out the #1 team, your path theoretically gets a little easier in the next round.

Milwaukee's Magic number is 18, the same for Texas and the Moose. Rockford's is 19. Milwaukee's next game is at Chicago on Saturday.

I checked the records so far this season against the Wolves. Milwaukee is 3-4-3-0 for 9 points in 10 games or .450.

Stastney's UND moves on to the round of 8 with an OT win over Clarkson.

Also, OHL's points leader Justin Brazeau's season came to an end today. Nashville among other teams reportedly in on him. 21 years old, 6'6 225 lbs. 61 goals and 52 assists in 68 games.

Watson with 2 goals, giving him 4. Tolvanen with 2 goals, giving him 14.

McCollum with the 4-2 win at Chicago. Penalties at 19:52 of period 3 on an icing. Four guys with 34 total minutes of penalties!

Milwaukee needs every point. That is 5 straight wins!

They didn't play since Wednesday and went from 4th place to 7th. They may be tied for 5th.

Milwaukee is shown in 6th place because they have fewer wins than the Moose. Both have a Magic number of 15. Texas has a Magic number of 13, but they have played two more games than Milwaukee and Manitoba. Rockford's is 16, they are in 7th place, one point behind Milwaukee and have also played 69 of their 76 games.

The Admirals play today at Grand Rapids at 3 PM CDT. GR has a Magic number of 4.

UND eliminated yesterday by UMass Amherst.

All of the Preds college hockey prospects have been eliminated so turning my attention over to the CHL.

Calgary Hitmen lead their playoff series 3-2 against Lethbridge. Yeryomenko has 2 goals and 2 assists.

Paquette sealed the series for Niagara with a goal over North Bay, and they move on to round 2 where they face Oshawa.

Voltigeurs beat Gatineau to advance to the 2nd round. Koltygin has one assist so far.

Not sure if any of the fellow Ads fans have been watching on AHLTV during this roadtrip, but is it just me or has Donovan played alot more reserved since returning? Would be happy if he stays that way rather than his free-wheeling turnover routine.

According to the prospects board, Brazeau attended Sharks camp last summer. So that might give them the inside track to signing him. But they're also not mentioned in the rumor.

Very low odds of being an NHL player, but for a free asset, and an offensively starved farm system, why not take a shot?

Exactly my thought. We need all the freebie dice rolls we can get after trading away so many assets.

and the Preds might be signing a PIM magnet in Lukas Cragg. averaged 3 PIMs a game in the NCAA while scoring goals. He looks like a high scoring 4th liner, at most.

Sounds more like a goon to protect our prospects in Milwaukee

He's not bad offensively either. But I think these are all AHL guys, but we definitely need more talent and flexibility all around down there.

I think I see the in, Adam Smith is on the team. He had TWICE as many PIMs as his brother? who had 51 and was 2nd on the team.
