Nothing will really happen since they are ahead on the rebuild. Win or lose this series expect to say goodbye to the following this summer:

  • Komarov ~ ufa
  • JVR ~ ufa
  • Bozak ~ ufa
  • Polak ~ ufa
  • Plekanec~ ufa

  • Gardiner ~ traded
  • C Carrick ~ traded
in coming Johnsson, Levio and possibly Grundström and Aaltonen.

The Leafs problem right now is they tied for the 6th most points in the league but have to play the team with the 4th most points in the league in the 1st round without home ice advantage. They've sucked so far but not as much as the playoff format does.

Do you honestly think they would be doing any better against the 5th team in the East: Pittsburgh?

They have to move out Nylander or Marner and get a legit d-man. Their d corps is just not good enough to complete in the playoffs and they have nothing coming.

It's very interesting no one considers this. I love how HF just changes the narrative a lot with the Leafs.
You guys love Phil Kessel now, right?

You mean now that he's not expected to be the leader of an NHL team's offence or even a 1st line player and that Toronto is still paying a part of his salary? Yeah, he's pretty decent.

Leafs are a soft team. The fan base knew this going into the playoffs but convinced itself that wasn't important. It obviously is. Sometimes getting swept makes management realize change is needed.

The Leafs aren’t losing because of physicality, their special teams have been garbage and tonight they had 4 goals on 6 shots.

The last thing they should do is trade Gardiner, unless a more established defenceman is coming in.

We all know Babs can't say goodbye to Polak, he'll be back.

If Toronto comes back and beats the Bruins it'll be extremely impressive to say the least; the Bruins are looking like serious Cup contenders.
I rated the bruins as a very good team,no unreal expectations in this series for the leafs.
however, they have also been lucky as well as the leafs being unlucky,( I know there is more to it than this)general observation thing! I don't see the bruins advancing should they win this contest. They aren't as good as they think they are!

Time to start considering the fallout that could occur here if the Leafs are swept. What moves will this compel Shanahan to make? Would they move a player like Marner or Nylander for a defenseman? Will this cause them to re-think their plan? What sort of damage could this do to the psyche's of a player like Matthews?

So far it's been a complete and utter debacle. It can get worse though.

nothing drastic really needs to be done

not to get ahead of ourselves, but do they do end up getting swept
it just goes to show that they aren't at the level leafs fans think they are. they're still in a drafting in developing stages, but theyve got their picks now

it took 7/8 seasons of drafting and developing to get where the jets are and the leafs fans think it's all gonna happen instantaneously

they're all still developing, maturing and getting better. think they got a couple of good defensive prospects like lilijgren.

there's really no rush because they're relatively young

I've been watching hockey since 1993 and the Leafs have never been swept in round one or failed to win more than one game in a single playoffs since then.

Pitts would be a whole new set of excuses, but no opponent would be easy for the Leafs to beat. Beat the bruins, then Tampa ,etc. ,gotta be better than they are to go far.

Leafs need a goalie. Bad.
No we don't. What we need is Babcock to stop overplaying Andersen, who was a Vezina candidate until about a month ago. Not that it matters because no goalie was stopping the goals that went in tonight. All kinds of deflections and fluky bounces. Tonights game was noy on Andersen, neither was game 1. The team hasn't scored on Rask, period.

Didn’t the Penguins get swept by Boston one year and barely scored a goal whole series? They didn’t rip their core apart.

Plekanec pick up was meh, by the way. He’s slowish and past his prime.
