If the Leafs get swept, what should Shanahan do?

whether they get swept or not is hardly going to be a decisionmaking factor here.

lol I bet you aren't even aware that we're a younger team than you guys, are ya?

so? you have nowhere near the talent.

Congrats on making the playoffs and getting swept though.

you would switch places with us in a second.

the habs are in big trouble.

If they don't win a cup with Marner/Matthews on their ELC's - it's basically over.

Why use regular season stats when Toronto dominated the Bruins the past 2 years. Leafs are 7-1 in the regular season against Boston the past 2 seasons.
Leafs are a soft team. The fan base knew this going into the playoffs but convinced itself that wasn't important. It obviously is. Sometimes getting swept makes management realize change is needed.

A team that has gone from 23rd, 27th, and 30th to making the playoffs to finishing 7th in the league isn't going to panic due to losing a series to a team that finished 4th best in the league (and was the hottest team in 2018). Is what is happening this series momentarily frustrating? Absolutely. But, this team has made significant progress the last 2 years. That improvement in the 3 years since we hired Lou and Babs is massive. Take a step back and see how the team has evolved. Now, if they yo-yo next year to being out of the playoffs like Calgary or Edmonton, we should panic. But, losing to the Bruins while crushing, isn't meltdown worthy to the extent massive changes need to be made.

You've already decided they have been swept. Way too early for this. I know you are enjoying it, but it's too early for the "Told Ya So" bit. The Leafs are a dominant team at home.

Pretty much. Changes sure but we're not about to re-rebuild.

They finished 30th overall two seasons ago, and not a single one of their main draft picks are even entering their primes yet.

The fact that they’re even in the playoffs somcomfortably so early on in the rebuild is an achievement in of itself. I’d expect more of the same From Leafs management - as more cautious/conservative approach - no boat rocking moves, slowly adding new pieces.
Being in the Atlantic and being able to score easy points in the weakest division in hockey fooled a lot of people into believing the team was better than are showing they really are. Good progress over the past 2 years but pretty clear how far they sill have to improve to be able to contend with the top teams.

No, they really are that good. Stop with the excuses.
The Habs and Sens are very far. The Leafs? No.

To the OP, it means the Leafs are going to sell off their core players at discount prices to get the pieces they think they're missing from the roster now! Get your low ball offers ready...

I love the irony of fans who were so wrong about how long the Leafs rebuild will take and how many years Buffalo was ahead, now tell us how the Leafs need to blow it up.
This is golden. Don't ever change.

It won't be the end of the world. They will need to make some changes (they'll need to make changes anyway). In 2014 TB was swept by MTL and then the Lightning reached the SCF in 2015.

They probably will need to fold the organization. Not going to happen though but I'm sure the prospect of such is very exciting indeed.
