I understand why he'd want to continue to play in the NCAA.

The problem is that he is one step closer to leaving. This organization is loaded with defensive prospects (and could get even more full if we pick Byram). Why would the kid sign with us and have to beat out all the other prospects we have when he can just wait another year and sign with whoever he wants?
That's the risk ... but for every KHayes, there is a Sikura, Hayden, and Johns.

I'd try to trade him now but not sure what he would bring back.

When his value completely tanks? Sure, I bet every team would be willing to give up a 5th or 6th to take a shot at signing him.

Can't wait to get just a 5th or 6th for a stud prospect, that will be pretty cool.

The overrating of Ian Mitchell by members of this board is reaching Dylan Sikura levels of ridiculous.

Throw him in a package for something of value then.

If the organization has any hint that he's not signing you start kicking tires on a move now, without a doubt.[/QUOTE]

Unless you're JD, then you wait another year and move him for nothing.

Do you not think he's worth more than a 5th or 6th right now?

You're implying that I'm overrating him by me saying a 5th or 6th is getting back a fraction of what he's worth.

This

If the Hawks even get the slightest idea that he won’t sign, you trade him.

Hopefully it doesn’t come to that. I really like Mitchell.

Wonder what he would bring back this summer? (Trade wise)

Basically Vesey is the only guy that curbed his team without them doing anything wrong to him. Just dont trade him, trade someone close to him, or tell him to stay while he wants to go pro and it'll be fine.

Every single moment a person doesnt sign as soon as they could is not reason to assume he is leaving.

I just can't see him staying in Denver for 2 more seasons. It's not Harvard.
Mitchell did say he went to Denver for the education. No offense to Denver grads ... but that's the first time I heard that. :)

There's a reason Bill Tierney left Princeton for Denver.

This leaves him exempt from the expansion draft correct?
Otherwise if he signed he would have been exposed? Genuine question

No, he would've been exempt either way since he didn't play 10 games this season.

There's really no bright spot to this.
If you want a bright spot, the best I can think of is that Stan gets a full season to weed out the D logjam. Should've been fixed this season, but whatever.
