According to nhl.com, Number 11 is not a rookie :shakehead

Habs Talk ‏@Habs_Talk

Emelin had 7 PTS in 67 GP last season (3G, 4A) and he now has 10 PTS in just 26 GP this season (2G, 8A).

That's 100% on Markov. For the 1st time of his long career with the Habs, Markov has a D partner in which he can feed up for the 1-timer on a 5 on 5 situation, and because Andrei is so good with the puck, Emelin has a lot of open ice to either take a shot or make a great pass. That pairing is even better than expected, it just sucks that Emelin has a harder time dishing out those big hits from the right side compared to the left.

Lecavalier and his stinking cap hit ? Are you kidding ?

On another note, great win, Florida are in deep trouble though...

Well Lecavalier is the kind of player you'll have no trouble trading.

Moen/trade-DD-Ryder
Hamilton/trade/Prust-Eller-Galchenyuk

There you go 4 lines that can bring some serious offense and no team in the league can keep all those lines shut for 60 minutes. If we don't win the cup we can always trade Lecavalier for the equivalent we gave to Tampa.

We definitely need more depth on the C, and Plekanec certainty is not a top 2 C on the team at this point, yup.

Well the point of this is that every line on this team could be the one putting the big minutes during a game. Maybe not Eller-Galch but who knows maybe Galchenyuk will improve enough by the end of the season.

The LW on the 3rd and 4th line would need some arrangements.

What is strange, seeing how they usually play together and Markov is the "offensive" D-man, is that so far this season, Emelin has 10 even strength points - and Markov has just 2.

He has one of the worst contracts in the league for salary, cap hit vs. production. Now Franzen is a guy I covet. He has a long contact too, but at a very affordable price.
