Figures we would get a Kuokkanen - Necas - Svechnikov line after Chuck Kaiton leaves.

“Disgusting” feels a little strong there. He kinda shoved him. Bad spot of ice.

Is the overuse of disgusting part the millennial thing? I’m seeing it used frequently everywhere, in places it seems greatly exaggerated. Like the word “obsessed”.

“I’m obsessed with this new line of kitchen ware....”
Societally, it is the general association of hyperbole with everything. "This is the worst ever...."....and all comments like that have become so pervasive so as to minimize their true meanings.

Didn’t look like a hit to me, at least from that angle he barely made contact at all. Not sure what’s supposed to happen when a guy skates perpendicular to the boards and slams on the brakes like that.

How is that not a bad hit??? He charged to the boards, literally had that guy’s numbers facing him for 4 or 5 strides, pushed out with his arms, and didn’t make any motion to move out of the way. It’s a bad hit. The kid also has a history of making questionable plays. He’s been suspended for knee on knee & charging before.

It’s not a hit at all. There wasn’t even any body-to-body contact. The only place where Elynuik touched him was on the top of his fingers. And the contact was so light that it didn’t even change Elynuik’s posture or direction, which tells me that he maintained his center of gravity and didn’t follow through or even lean into Tyzska.

To the extent that Elynuik did something wrong here, it’s that he extended his arms in anticipation of going hard to the boards. That always looks bad. But he had literally no way to know that Tyzska is going to slam on the brakes and try to completely dodge contact by bending over and cutting in the opposite direction. It was more than reasonable to assume that he needed to get his hands up and prepare to go to the glass. Tyzska should have been preparing for that as well. Trying to pivot out of the hit while facing the boards is suicidal in that situation.

To me, that’s the definition of a “kids aren’t taught to protect themselves” moment.

I'm glad to see opinions that agree with my initial assessment...I saw that clip on Twitter, all of its "OMG!" comments, and thought I just don't get it. Looked to me like a preseason major (to set the tone for the season)/regular-season 2-min minor, but nothing worth getting the pitchforks out.

Pretty much my thoughts...the guy essentially Crosby-folded himself, but at the worst time in the worst spot and paid dearly for it. Not to say Elynuik is innocent and shouldn't be penalized by any means, he still hit him in the numbers. But Tyzska was literally skating like he thought he was the only player on the ice, completely oblivious there might be someone nearby, bent over, slammed on the brakes, and at that point it doesn't take much to lose your balance...and Ely was right behind him at that point. That whole, "I won't look back because I want to draw a penalty for being hit from behind" mentality where you definitely miscalculated everything. Like guys who cheapshot behind the play hoping to draw a retaliation penalty and then aren't prepared for the consequences (though they usually whine and succeed in drawing the penalty)

Interesting speculation on Dobber Hockey including his dislike for Justin Faulk. But the real news is that he speculates that Jake Bean could be one of the "prospects" with a video game addiction....seems like a pretty rank speculation, but there you have it.

It was speculated that the prospect in question was from a big market, so he can scratch Jake Bean off. Not sure why he would omit that piece of evidence when it was one of the only few hints.
