[mod] but in general I would say that a person's actions say something about the type of person they are. That type of thing can rub off on other people. Any time you invite a questionable character into your locker room, and this is complete separate from this particular case, you are taking a potentially unnecessary risk on how that may affect your team.Oh no, is Rod going to be sticking needles in all of our players butts?

Rod Brind’amour a questionable character? He’s one of the most respected people in hockey, known for his insane work ethic.
He’s never been caught or even really accused of taking ped’s so I don’t know why you’re even going down this road especially considering he’s been retired for years and this is a thread regarding him being hired for a head coaching position.
In other words - you’re full of it.
this Waddell hiring isn't getting enough attention. I think due to the market.
In Atlanta
-terrible drafting
-got nothing substantial in return kovelchuk and Hossa trades
-couldn't build A team around kovelchuk and heatley
-team was so bad they ended up leaving town due to attendance and on ice team......maybe that is the end game here. Housten hurricanes works well
He is on a level with McLean, milbury, and Calgary version of feaster
Re-sign him before he became a UFA? He was reallly good.
It's not as if he didn't try.
Hossa had a ragged journey to 500 goals
Ultimately, Waddell deserves blame for those trades; he failed to build an organization attractive enough to retain franchise talent. I just find the criticism of the returns to be over the top considering the contractual status of both players. There's virtually no leverage in that circumstance.
Lol I honestly thought I simply had a dream that Don Waddell was back in the league but it is real.
How about that.
I honestly think that Hossa deal came with a promise of a job once he was fired by the Thrashers. It is just one heck of a coincidence. He never left the League. After Atlanta moved to Winnipeg, the Pens hired him as a scout and after Rutherford left Carolina he came here to take on the business side of Rutherford's portfolio. It's not like he's been sitting idly by for 7 years. Again, your own team employed him immediately after the Thrashers were sold.

Feels like an ol boys club hire. Good luck to him though. Who knows? Maybe he can do a good job.
You know he means business when his first act is to bring in his old buddy, Rick Dudley, who resigned from the Lightning because they wouldn't let him trade Vincent Lecavalier (for Peter Worrell, probably).
your order of events is backwards
They knew from Day One (which was in 2003) that they were going to get rid of the Thrashers, but spent the rest of the decade suing each other so that their assets were locked in place while the courts sorted it out.
