That's true, but why not just go four years at a slightly higher cap hit? That would keep him under control till age 29 and make him more valuable in a trade unless his level of performance goes down the drain.

I dunno, maybe he wants like 6MM for 4 years? I mean he asked for a 5.5MM for 1 year in arbitration.

He did, but Johansson asked for $5.25m in arbitration, and settled for 3 years at $4.58m.

Lets just be thankful we'll still have him for 1, maybe 2 years. Gives more time for the prospects to show what they can do. Konecny might explode, maybe Laberge/Rubtsov push faster, so if Schenn does leave, its not as painful.

5,6,4,3,1,,,,7,,,2

Those are the years I would hope for in order.

Would love to be a fly on the wall for these, guessing award will be very close to 5.5 per.

Ok, how soon do we hear what the decision is?

The arb. Has 48 hours to decide I believe. But the Flyers and Schenn could still get a deal done during that time.

I really don't want 6 years..only because Giroux and Couts are also up in 6 years. But I guess we could just trade him in year 5 if we want.

Guy on Twitter I talk to said, Flyers/Schenn can come to deal during the 48 hour arbitrator decision review.

So a long term deal isn't 100% dead, but you'd think its still unlikely at this point.

That's positive as long as the meeting is cordial. Some say they get heated but I think Button has always said everyone he was in was very cordial

He's got a good agent and they appear to be far apart to get to this point, so they must be confident. We shall see,,,

Sure, there is a chance, but if he does get 5.5. That is when I expect him traded. Because he'll only get more expensive from there and the Flyers probably don't want to have too many big cap hits coming up. If he gets a 1 or 2 year at 5.5, it'll mean his next deal could be 6+, Hextall might want to walk away from that.

Meltzer brings up a Milbury story most of the time, but Milbury is a 100% clown, I don't think Hextall's job is to destroy human's emotions.

His job isn't to talk nice about why he believes Schenn is only worth so much. Not good to get to this point but it is what it is.

Not saying he is, but the Milbury story went way beyond trying to claim why he's only worth so much, apparently attacked his character and manhood.
