Win or lose I want them to get bigger on defense. Guys like Lauzon and Vaakanainen should get some ice time next year. Lauzon is a physical D, Clifton is physical.

Anyone that thinks they should trade the whole core is out to lunch, because the grass isn’t greener on the other side of that scenario.
I think the right moves can put them over the top. Think Donato for Coyle. It was scary at first because Donato has a lot of upside but those are the kinds of moves they need to make. 2 or 3 more trades like that & they'll be set. If the trade isn't a little terrifying in the first month it's probably not enough. As much as I have defended Heinen he's got to go & I don't think Kuhlman is the answer either. Really hoping guys like Frederic & Studnicka can step up because size & skill together are hard to come by.

I don’t think you need a major rebuild. I love Krug but we have good defensive depth and think we have to trade him for some top 6 help. Hope debrusk and pasta can continue development. Marchand is tough, he has talent but always seems to make costly mistakes. He has a good contract and would never get much value in return because of his reputation so I think we are stuck with him. Bergy needs to transition to a defensive specialist and not being relied on for scoring. The goals for the next 2 years should be to find a top 2 center and another wing and I think we can make another run with mcavoy and Carlo anchoring the D.

Let me pick your brain. We just went to game 7 of the Cup Finals, finished 2nd in the East and 3rd overall in the NHL

Somehow, you deduced that we need to blow it up. So, what would you do?

The bruins got there because other teams (Tampa and Washington) fell apart.

There’s no reason to think this current bruins team has success in the playoffs in the future.

I’d love to see Heinen traded for someone bigger, but no GM is going to trade a Josh Anderson for Heinen right now. Either way he should be gone, his effect on most games was neutral. They need more physicality.

In a perfect world.

- Find a way to move Backes, even if they eat some money.

- Use some assets to get a true 2RW (Hall).

- Make a decision on Krug, and frankly the logjam on D as a whole.

- Re-sign Johansson if they have a reasonable deal. He's a perfect middle six winger.

They desperately need a top 6 C prospect in the system. Love Studnicka, but not sure if hes that.
Actually, Hall is a LW. But that’s okay, we need his type on this team. I’d also like to try to pry Anderson away from Columbus or Boeser from Vancouver. Canucks need a young D man, which we have.

It's really tough because I feel like they need a player like that but those guys can be such a roll of the dice. I look at a guy like Ferland and he could go the way of Beleskey just as easily as he could go the way of Tom Wilson.

Sorry, but this team is ****ing great. One loss won't make me go back on that. They should have won this year and there's no need to blow it up.

MoJo is gone, no doubt. We need a 2nd line winger to play with DeBrusk and Krejci, we never got that. Need a depth player to shore up the 3rd line and replace MoJo.

Trade for Hall.

I think they need to look hard at moving on from Heinen. He just didn’t have enough of an effect on games this year. I’d take a chance on Ferland, they need that type of player.

It’s frustrating because it’s so hard to get here. At least they have Coyle next season. I think they need to sign Johansson. Backes walking would solve some problems but I can’t help but feel for the guy.

Trade for Taylor Hall next Friday. Fix the hole and do it all again.
Taylor Hall doesn't fix "the hole" considering that hole is at RW. Plus I think he'd be terrible for this team in the room. When Jon Moore talks about "no dickheads" on the Bruins I get the distinct impression Hall is a guy he had in mind.

LOVE both but especially Boeser! There's no way that Vancouver sends us Boeser without a huge overpay and I may just pay it. He's now at the beginning of being the face of their franchise. Don't know what Columbus's needs are but you've hit the nail on the head again, he would be great here! If we had him in the finals .... oh well we didn't.

Bs would have to add something, along with Heinen, to acquire an Anderson. They have lots of young LHDs to use as fodder for the cannon.

Sweeneely needs a BIG move. A big move or two, NOT a rebuild. You're correct, advanced metrics bs aside I have no use for Heinen. HATE the way he plays at the end of his stick, HATE his "fly-by's). I don't like soft players no matter the position and that IS DH. Sweeney needs to get over his h**rdon for soft skilled guys. IMO if Sweeney doesn't start making this team more "beefy" Neely is gonna blow a gasket.

I would like to hear what these guys played through and then decide from there. I don't think a rebuild is necessary, but another retool and hockey trades should be made.

Suffice it to say, that was a disappointing end.

We have way too many passengers on this team....five of which play in our top six.

Should Sweeney bite the bullet and initiate a massive rebuild? Or is this team a couple of pieces away?

This loss stings more than 2013. And the main reason we lost is the same as we did then...the core.
Well they're hardly passengers. They're hurt (not necessarily all of them). They got bullied and pushed around by a bigger, stronger team.

But I dunno where they go. The whole league's going to be confused. All we heard was speed and skill. Now what?

They're good on D going forward, and have a couple of good pieces on wing. But I dunno what they do about centre.
