It has been mostly a Canadian tournament for some time. For Europeans, it is an exhibition tournament in the middle of the summer of no particular import. For Canadians, the timing has always allowed Canada to send their best players, and they have always more or less had easy victories to celebrate. The Czechs would have let the tournament go, so Canada picked it up. It is one of the biggest events on the Canadian calendar.

What are everyone’s thoughts on the US roster? Who are the top players to watch for them?

John Farinacci, Nicholas Robertson, Luke Toporowski, Arthur Kaliyev, Sam Colangelo and Grant Silianoff will be the horses up front. On the backend, Mitchell Miller, Cade Webber, Luke Reid and Mike Koster likely make up their top 4. Dustin Wolf from Everett of the WHL is the clear cut #1 between the pipes.

To my surpise there's not any glaring omission. I wish 02 born Jan Mysak was there, but otherwise it's good.
Defense core isn't very good, but the forward one is stacked, on paper anyway. Pavel Novak and Nick Malik made it as 02 borns.

I think Robert Mastrosimone is in the top 6 for them in talent. Absolutely impressive year for him in the USHL for the Steel - potential top 31 pick as well.

Same for Michael Mancinelli as well...these two kids could really step out and start to get more recognition.

Didn't see a ton of Mancinelli. And Mastrosimone I think is right in that mix too. His skating concerns me though.

Mastrosimone reminds me some of Grimaldi - skilled but not the fastest player out there, shifty and crafty. we will see how he does here and what type of deployment he gets...

Is it such a good idea to have the summer showcase and Hlinka scheduled right next to each other? They almost seem like the same event when they're not...

Anyone else stream the Canada red/white game? Lafreniere was quiet, Samuel Poulin, Newhook, Suzuki, and Parent impressed up front.

This team will likely have a few tough calls

SWE U18 beat SWE U17 8-1 in an exhibition game yesterday. Very sloppy game, Holtz with 4 points. The U18 team was clearly better but the game was much tighter than the scoresheet would indicate.
