don't spend high-value assets (like 1st round picks) on a goalie. use those assets on skaters only and instead go with a mid quality journeyman goalie in net, and hope he gets hot at the right time. NHL goaltending is a crapshoot, you can't optimize for it.

It's not like there was a Bedard, Fantilli or Michkov in the draft last year.

They all would have bene #1 picks ahead of Wright, Slaf, Cooley and Nemec last year.
Heck Dach would have been a #1 pick OA last year.

It was a bad year, it is what it is. We'll see what Slaf is in 3-4-5 years. And Beck, and Hudson.
