The Washington Capitals would like to thank Dustin Brown for his 4+ seasons of excellence serving our organization. When he made the choice in the initial free agency to become a Cap, Dustin was instrumental to teaching the young players how to be an NHLer. He stuck with us as we did a massive change in the locker room, and we are grateful for the positive energy he gave during these dark times.
Dustin has been attributed to being a large influence of the upbringing of current Capitals Conor Garland, Tony Deangelo, Troy Terry and Jay Beagle.
Unfortunately, after the acquisition of Evander Kane, several locker room incidents occurred between Dustin and Evander, leading to necessary action. Dustin reacted poorly when he lost a large bet due to Evander's betting advice, resulting in a heated fight. As such, it is with a heavy heart we bid goodbye to a Capitals legend.
Dustin will be inducted in to our ring of honor later this season, with a spot next to Cory Schneider and Justin Williams.
