It's when it's intentional, it's a penalty. It's a penalty over the glass even when it's unintentional. But getting a whistle for the sake of an advantage, excluding goalies, is pretty much the definition of "delay of game."

Many teams follow this style of play. It's what the league is becoming. Speed, hard forechecking and just hard work in general. The days of sitting back and playing a physical game is over. Teams that do are in a bad place. Kings, Oilers etc.

Panthers will do what they always do. Lose games early, way out of playoff spot by January, then play great to "get back in the race". Everyone will lament how hard they are playing and how resilient they were when they just miss the playoffs.

Wash, rinse, repeat.
