49ers select Kris Abrams-Draine, CB (Mizzou)

The 49ers have a couple good starting corners already, but a legitimate #3 CB remains a need for the team. Abrams-Draine has all the skills needed at the NFL; the only major knock on him is his size. That's something I don't think this coaching staff typically worries about, especially considering one of their starters is even smaller. A smattering of mocks have him all the way into the first round, but he usually settles into the late 2nd or early 3rd. So this feels like great value for a late day 2 pick.

The Houston Texans are proud to select, from The U, Safety Kamren Kinchens.

Earlier this year, Kinchens had a 1st round grade by several scouting agencies. His stock has slipped some, but he should still end up as a Day 2 pick, so I'm happy to get him here early in Day 3. The Texans' weakest unit by far last year was the secondary, so adding another high quality DB should help to majorly shore up that weakness. Between Stingley, Pitre, Melton, and now Kinchens, this looks like a young, deep secondary that could even become a strength for the Texans. He's definitely still raw, but the talent is there to become a starter.
