With the 2nd overall pick in the NFL draft, the Washington Commanders select

1710433481396.png

Drake Maye - UNC

Brief justification for the pick: I don't think Maye is the most pro ready player of the remaining QBs. I do however think he works the middle of the field really well, much better than any other QB in this draft. He also has the arm strength and creativity to be a difference maker at the next level. He may not be a full time starter out of college, and he does have some clear question marks coming out, but I think he has the second highest ceiling of the QBs in this draft.

With the 14th overall pick, the New Orleans Saints select JC Latham, OT, Alabama

J.C.-Latham.jpg

The Saints have all kinds of questions on their offensive line, more than any other time since 2005, so they will be required to address this early in the draft. Ryan Ramczyk is great but may have to retire because of knee issues (which means he isn’t long for this anyways), Andrus Peat is a free agent, Trevor Penning predictably hasn’t worked out, as it’s stupid to take projects in round 1, and James Hurst is really a super sub, supposed to be a backup but has started 51 of the last 60 games, and is 32.

Latham may only be a right tackle in the long-run, which will be fine. If the line is healthy to start the year, he can slot in at guard until someone gets hurt.

With the 16th pick, Seattle Seahawks select Trey Fautanu OT/OG Washington

Easy pick here, Seattle have a massive hole in there IOL and with Ryan Grubb as OC and Scott Huff as OL coach who were both with Washington last year, this pick is a natural fit.

With Cross, Lucas, Oluwatimi our OLine would be set for a couple of years

With the 19th pick in the 2024 NFL draft, the Los Angeles Rams are proud to select from UCLA Laiatu Latu.

Coulda gone corner but I think Latu is the best edge in the class so to get him here can't overthink it.

@Goalie_Bob is on the clock for the Steelers.

21st overall, Miami Dolphins select Kris Jenkins, Jr., DT, Michigan

1710762774114.jpeg

The apple did not fall far from the tree here, Jenkins has followed the same path as his father and uncle, except went to a much better school. The Dolphins allowed Christian Wilkins to walk in free agency and have yet to adequately address his replacement on the defensive interior. Jenkins is supposed to be able to get off the line quickly and which will make him versatile on the line. He has elite penetration on run plays, and is believed to have advanced processing that allows him not to be fooled on play action.
