Hoping to get some value out of a guy who has been plummeting in the rankings this offseason. 4th round, difficult to find talent down here, so swing for the fences.

Texans select Leonard Taylor, DL (U Miami)

1711834221383.jpeg

Heading back to the defensive line for more depth here. A real boom-or-bust prospect who had immense hype coming into college, he wasn't quite as productive as many would've hoped. He has huge amounts of raw talent and can absolutely be an NFL caliber player, it's just a matter of him cleaning up his technique and keeping the effort levels up. For the Texans, the depleted DL needs all the help they can get. The edge rushers are elite, but inside needs some major assistance, especially with the run defense. With no more picks until deep into Round 7, the Texans are essentially done with adding potential impact players.

Texans' Picks
34 - Jer'Zhan Newton, DT (Illinois)
59 - Max Melton, CB (Rutgers)
103 - Kamren Kinchens, S (U Miami)
123 - Leonard Taylor, DT (U Miami)

49ers select Malik Washington, WR (Virginia)

1711834573409.jpeg

Talk about a guy with a breakout year. His size is the main detriment that kept him from going much higher, but in terms of ball talent, speed, and route running, this guy has all the makings of a legit starting wide receiver. And for the 49ers, that has become a major need with the trade speculation around Aiyuk and Deebo's inability to stay consistently healthy. He's a slot receiver and should be another immediate weapon for Purdy to make use of, and he fits into the 49ers' offense like a glove. I seriously considered this guy at 94, so I'm excited he's still available now.

49ers Draft
31 - Graham Barton, C/OG (Duke)
63 - Patrick Paul, OT (U of Houston)
94 - Kris Abrams-Draine, CB (Mizzou)
124 - Malik Washington, WR (Virginia)

Buccaneers select LB Marist Liufau, Notre Dame

1000004958.jpg

Coverage off ball LB is a need for the Bucs with the loss of Devin White. While Liufau won't bring that level of play, he's a fluid rangy LB that excels in pass protection and on blitzes. With KJ Britt still only 24 and an elite run stopper, this gives the Bucs an option going forward next to him in a year or two when Brooks retires potentially.

With the 126th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers select, Khristian Boyd, DL, Northern Iowa

1711838076402.png

"Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 317 lbs, Boyd is the epitome of strength and power. Despite having slightly below-average arm length for his position, Boyd's athleticism and aggressive approach compensate for that limitation. Boyd's explosiveness off the line and ability to navigate the trenches with above-average quickness and lateral mobility set him apart. His proficiency in hand fighting and leveraging active hands to disrupt and control speaks to his technical skill and understanding of blocking schemes. Boyd's ability to anchor against double teams, combined with his power and technique, allows him to split blocks and create havoc in the backfield.

As a pass rusher, Boyd's bull rush and hand techniques make him a consistent interior threat, capable of collapsing the pocket and challenging offensive lines. His versatility, being able to line up in the 3-technique and 1-technique positions, adds significant value, offering flexibility and strategic options for defensive coordinators

With the 126th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers select, Zak Zinter, OL, Michigan

View attachment 843618

"Zak Zinter's tenure at Michigan showcased his ability to dominate in the trenches, underlined by his role in propelling the Wolverines' run game to new heights. His knack for anchoring against powerful bull rushes and his prowess in executing second-level blocks make him a very solid prospect. Despite concerns about his recovery from a severe leg injury, his tape reveals a player with the foundational skills to start at the next level, capable of holding his own as both a run blocker and pass protector."

Texans select Javon Foster, OT (Mizzou)

1711840025501.jpeg

He needs some polish, but as a back-up OT, Foster will be a valuable piece. O-Lines are obviously notorious for lots of injuries, and the Texans are no stranger to that. Despite having one of the better starting OLs in the league, the depth behind that group is thin and not great. Foster can be given time to develop and work out the minute aspects of his game that need a lot of work.

With no more picks until deep into Round 7, the Texans are essentially done with adding potential impact players. The trade for Tee Higgins and moving up for the best DT in the draft highlight the post-FA additions for Houston. A few quality depth pieces on defense have been added as well. Overall, happy with how this has turned out so far. Strongly considered taking another depth offensive lineman at the last two picks, but the defense is where more attention and talent is needed.

Texans' Picks
34 - Jer'Zhan Newton, DT (Illinois)
59 - Max Melton, CB (Rutgers)

With the 128th pick the Buffalo Bills select CB Elijah Jones, Boston College

img_21701043.jpg

Elijah Jones is an experienced college player who tested through really well in the draft lead up. With his experience and physical gifts the hope is that he is a player that can contribute quicker than most 4th round picks normally would. He's mostly a zone coverage guy with struggles in man, but Bills play a lot of zone so there's a system fit as well. Bills have 5 picks in the next 35 picks so some mid round swings as coming but they start with an older "safer" pick here.

Athletic guard should be a good fit in the zone running scheme of the Bills. He needs refinement in his technique according to the scouting reports, but has the physical tools to compete. He won't be needed to be a day 1 starter in Buffalo and he can develop while offering depth to the line. Can never have enough talent along the OL.
