With the 144th selection Buffalo Bills select CB Qwan'tez Stiggers, Toronto Argonauts

usatsi_20916574.jpg

Stiggers figures to be just the 3rd player of the modern era to be drafted without having played any college ball. He was scheduled to attend Div II Lane when after his father's death he never reported. Instead he moved on with life before his mother convinced him to try out for Fan Controlled football at 19/20. After a decent season there the Argonauts took a flyer on him. Not much was expected in CFL but he took training camp by storm with the Argos, made the roster and ended up being named the CFL Most Outstanding Rookie after starting 16 of 18 games recording 53 tackles and 5 interceptions. Having just turned 22 years old in January, he is still among the younger prospects in the draft. He has great speed and instincts with a very smooth hip rotation. Can play zone or man coverage and thrives in coverage in space, as seen thriving on the big CFL field. Should have no trouble playing on an island at CB, but can also use his ball hawking instincts to play nickel and thrived in zone as well as CFL teams play alot of zone. Now has valuable pro experience no other player in draft possesses. May struggle somewhat helping out in the run game in the condensed NFL game. Under contract with the Argo's he'll need a release to sign in NFL but Argos released him for the East-West Shrine Bowl and plan to release him if he's drafted. Which seems likely as he's had multiple top 30 visits this off-season. IMO Stiggers is a boom or bust prospect that'll be starting in 2-3 years or out of NFL and with a bevy of late picks it's worth the risk for the Bills here.

Give the Bengals Xavier Weaver, WR coach prime and his kid helped out at Colorado.

New Orleans Saints select Xavier Thomas, DE, Clemson.

Saints are old on the edges, this gives them a chance to address that and turn into a starter perhaps next season.

Raheem Mostert is not getting any younger, and they're certainly are not going to pay him when he comes up, while De'Von Achane does seem to get banged up, so here is another running back who has plus athleticism and speed.

Can someone update the OP in this thread? It's like 13 picks behind plus Carolina's two missed picks. It makes it harder to find who's picked.

With the 160th selection the Buffalo Bills select RB Braelon Allen, Wisconsin

I don't think he's gone yet. Bills will add some power to the their backup to back up Josh Allen's own power running game. But with the investment in [Josh] Allen you don't want him taking all the tough shots. Allen will give them a short yardage threat that also has some speed to him with a 4.40 forty time. Starting RB James Cook is a master in the passing game, so while [Braelon] Allen has no role at all in the passing game, that's not a big deal to the Bills. They love having multiple different options in the run game and [Braelon] Allen will give them another great weapon to form a thunder and lightning combo at RB.
