He didn't literally mean to crosscheck the other person in the face. He meant they need to get meaner and angry in the dot circle, especially if losing it.

Nice guys finish last.
Exactly. Basically, punish your opponent if you lose, put some intimidation into him

I like the winter classic on one hand, but don't agree with having a whistle halfway through the 3rd and OT, in order to change ends. The rules shouldn't be changed in any way and the home team shouldn't have to forfeit their home ice advantage just because its an outdoor game.

Can't wait for the final episode. Always the best of the series.

Line changes. Usually home ice gets the shorter change for 40 minutes a night. At the Classic, the teams changed sides every 10 minutes making it 30 minutes a side.

An attempt to create parity in regards to wind direction
Longer skate to te bench to change.

Its a longer skate for both teams though

No they didn't. They only changed at the 10 minute mark in the third and at 2:30 in OT
And there is no advantage to either team in regards to 'long' changes, more of a disadvantage for both

Also the stoppage at 2:30 of overtime could have affected the outcome of the game. Zetterberg was about to break free for what could have been a breakaway to win the game.

Are you talking about distance to bench? Because it's the same for both sides.

If you're talking about who gets to change last, then it won't matter what side of the ice they're on...

Does anybody else find Phaneuf to be some what awkward when rallying his team mates, it's like his just saying what he is because he's supposed to as captain and no one is really listening to him.

It's obviously not fair to judge his leadership by the few insights we get in 24/7, but it just doesn't sound very genuine.

It matters if you're trying to get certain matchups. If you're the visiting team and the home team puts an unfavorable matchup on the ice, then it's harder to react and get out the guys you want when you have the long change. The home team gets last change at faceoffs so they can always get their preferred matchup and force you to change on the fly.

So adding the extra 10 minutes of the long change favors the home team because it makes their last change advantage more significant.
