Hartford got butchered tonight

OTOH, Hrivik killing it in Hartford in all 3 zones. He was very good at the end of last season, and has really taken it a step up this year. Hope he keeps it up.

He would have made the team this year if they didn't bring in a small battalion of 4th line forwards to try and eradicate the foothold Tanner "AV's Poolboy" Glass cemented in the previous two seasons. He just wasn't good enough in camp this year compared to all of the competition. Now with Fontaine and, even Nieves in the mix, he's really going to have to go above and beyond to impress the coaching staff of both teams for them to give him the call-up, if it should occur.

I feel worse about his chances now than ever because of how many other people are comparable, or better at the NHL level. Still a good asset to have regardless.

They should make him our 13F next season if he keeps it up for the Pack. Offer him the league minimum, but 1-way. He'll take $600 for 2 years with guaranteed money after making $175 to play in Hartford all this time. Big improvement in lifestyle there.

He is destined to be a career AHLer. Probably end up being captain for the Pack one day. There will always been a better 4th liner than him to choose from unless injuries really pile up.

Lets be honest here, he is going to be 26 when the next season starts, he is probably in his prime years right now, he's not going to be getting much better.

Given how he's playing right now, he doesn't need to get better. He just needs to keep it up. He's been really good for the Pack in the first 6 games in all 3 zones. In the past, he was very good in the middle of the ice, decent defensively, but as I noted many times, he'd look lost on offense and as soon as he'd cross the blue line, Hrivik would have a deer in the headlights look and caused a turnover. This is not NHL hockey.

Right now, he looks more confident on defense than ever, just as good in the middle, but all of a sudden, he's a real player inside the other team's blue line. What used to be turnovers now become scoring opportunities. We saw it at the end of last season and it's even more so right now. It's possible he's just hot, but it's not just a matter of the puck going in for him, he's actually making better decisions now. The points he's putting up is not just additional offense, it's more defense too in the sense that he doesn't cause turnovers. If he keeps it up and proves that an NHL team can rely on him to do this for 82 games, he will play in the NHL.

Is Pack playing faster this season too?
