My own Sweden started good so far, both the men and women have won all games but our mens team is struggling playing-wise. I still have hope for a medal thought, we do have 2 silver-medals last 4 years and many good players. Hampus Wanne might be the best player in the entire world last 2 seasons.

Denmark (men) and Netherlands (women) is the favorites.

Hopefully Denmark do well, but there is a thing in Handball called the "Denmark syndrome"

Which is they never play a good tourney after winning a tourney.

Won Euro 2008 - Finished 4th in the 2009 WC

Won Euro 2012 - Absolutely bottled the 2013 WC final against Spain (Biggest final loss in a WC ever)

Won 2016 Olympics - Cruised thru their group in the 2017 WC, only to loose the QF against Hungary who finished 4th in their group.

Won the 2019 WC - Didn't make it out of their group in the 2020 Euros for the first time in two decades (Since Euro 2000) That's 9 Euros ago.

Won the 2021 WC - Let's wait and see.

There is a case for Hampus and Ekberg competing with them for sure.

But Uwe hans some insane jump in him, and Dika is just an amazing young player.

But, I can see why some would prefer the two Swedes.

But to be fair, I never said they were better, I wrote I could list more player.

Ekberg for sure is world class, not sure if I put Hampus in that category tho.

I never see handball outside of the Olympics and I have no rooting interest in any of the matches, but I always enjoy it. Story of the Olympics really.

That's a nice write up but I have to disagree about Gensheimer. He once was but he is past his prime. He was bad at the WC and is benched rather often.

What’s your nationality?

If not from a Handballing nation, you should really give it a go:)

I'm from Canada. As far as I know it has no television presence and it isn't something I think to look up online. I also played handball in gym class in school over the years and really enjoyed it. Handball is always a highlight for me when the summer Olympics roll around.

You should give the Euros or WC a chance, it really is awesome.

I am only part Danish - I learned to watch it as a kid because of my Danish family, and instantly took a liking to it.

If you have the stamina, give one of the finals I posted a little look.

Nice, I will take a look at some of those tonight if the Olympic coverage doesn't appeal to me. I'd like to find a spot to get to play a little but in a Canadian location with a population of around ~70,000 that's unlikely.

Germany now with the same problem they had for a year. They have a good defense, good goalie, good coach but nobody can score.

Edit: and as I wrote that, the defense looks like amateurs.^^

I'm positively surprised that they seem to whistle too many steps with the ball. Often you have the impression that you can travel half the court with the ball in hand.

Never considered Hampus world class - But, you probably watch him more.

Gottfridsson tho, maybe I would consider him.

Gottfridsson is very good. But i think there is 4-5 better players than him.

If we look at young players, carlsbogård is a good one. I see alot of Kim Andersson in him.

Btw Ålborg had a fantastic season and added some really good players. Will be intresting to follow them the upcoming season.
