Was against the decision to take Hammond over Lehner. Firmly believe he's not the issue with this team, however. We sorely miss MacArthur and lack depth on the backend - Ceci isn't capable of carrying a second pair and Wier and Cowen have failed to step up.

They had a veteran defenceman it was Phillips who could have played well with managed minutes. Unfortunately with a bad back no one thought he would be out all yr but he has been & now he is done. Veteran defencemen are not as easy to just pick up as so many seem to think & they don't always work out. IMO Ceci is playing fine & he is the least of the problems with this team, in fact, he has been playing pretty well all yr.

It was always going to be Anderson vs. Lehner.

Hammond is just happy to be here at this point.

Lehner was getting visibly and vocally frustrated with his role as a back-up.

To be fair, Hammond really didn't get any consistent stretch of games under his belt this season (not counting conditioning stint in Bingo). At this point it's Andy or bust, with the team clinging onto dying hope of making it as number 8 in the east.
