We might think too highly of our prospects, but as your post showed.....you overvalue the fact that he's been drafted 4th overall.
Paying for untapped potential of which we didn't see a glimpse of at the pro level for cheap isn't swinging for the fence either.
I'm not overvaluing it to say I'd trade a 22 year old 3rd pair D for him.

Speak Finnish?
And how is that supposed to help his on-ice performance? Does he need to be told how to receive a pass or when to take a shot every time he's on the ice?

This kid seems really self entitled at this point...does that match the MB attitude era? Would think not...

He’d be a perfect complement to Drouin. :sarcasm:

Can't fix bad hockey sense.
You can hide it on the bottom-6. But you can't fix it.
And apparently, bottom-6 isn't an option in this case.

Cmon, do we need another 'project' in Montreal? He's challenged offensively, ans really hasn't proven much defensively, I'd rather stick with Juulsen.
that I agree, I thought MTL was good for "project" but the past showed us that we are terrible with projects that have a attitude problem. A project who will always play his heart like Domi almost always work out well in MTL ( radulov was an other example of how well he did with us).

Pulju kinda fit the "attitude" problem, which MTL had some problem with in the past. Our group is forming a great chemistry though, do you want to change that ? idk

If we're to tap into the same mongerer who is saying the Habs are showing interest in Puljujarvi, the cost to get him would not be very high.

MOB offers this on what it would take to get him.

TRANSLATION: His value has to be about a 2nd rounder or a 3rd rounder and a B prospect.

And in a reply to a twitter user, he says that the price has gone down from what it used to be earlier in the summer:

How about Weise or f*** off?

I don't really see the point of going for Pajuju, there's nothing here for us other than false hope.

I doubt it is that low, was projected 3rd overall in his draft year, still plenty of upsides, you have to give the kid some time to develop, he just jumped too quickly in the NHL and EDM is a shitshow to begin with, look what D.Strome did once he got traded, I would trade Puljujarvi for a 2nd in a heartbeat.

This guy said Schuldt was coming here after the frozen four.

Oops.

He's not really a viable source at this point imo as I highly doubt he was first with the Deslaurier trade. Likely saw it somewhere else and posted it.

30 points is still more than Puljujarvi has ever scored.
It is, but age counts when the difference is 4 years. Also, draft stock.

Normally those types of deals involve players of the same age, or roughly, that were drafted in the 1st round.

as much as i like Byron ( trust me, it's quite a bit) he's a pretty redondant player in Montreal, Yes it's a mid risk/High reward deal, but let's not forget alot of kids are going to be pushing soon, Byron is already 30 year old, i personally do not like the lenght of his contract. We would need to protect him or lose him for nothing in the expansion draft. I feel like it's a smart gamble, because if it pans out, you're looking at a highway robbery, if it doesn't, you cleared cap space, wich will be needed more than people think in a near future. Byron + 3rd for Puljujarvi, seems about right. I wouldn't be UPSET in a 1 on 1 swap with Juulsen, but i don't think that's realy smart. You already know Juulsen is a quality Third pairing Dman (can still improve) he's still 22 and having young quality stability in your line up is priceless, even if it's in a third pairing role. On the other hand, Byron is 30 year old and is the type of guy who can be swapped by guys like Weal, Lehkonen, Cousins etc...

Clearly, Puljujarvi is not prepared to work his way up. He expects to be gifted a top 6 role and a minimum amount of minutes.

I think he’s a top-6 player but he’s got to earn it like anyone else.

I haven’t seen him play since the World Juniors and back then I liked what I saw. That said, he appears to carry a lot of baggage. I have no idea of the line combos they’ve tried, but with two #1 quality centers there in Edmonton, and arguably 3 centers who can play top-6, why Puljujarvi couldn’t get it going is concerning.

It wasn't him who had said that. It was a writer for the Ottawa Sun who did.

Beaudoin was the first to break the Deslauriers trade to Anaheim for a 4th.

I don't know his track record for these. But I don't completely discount his info.

Fair enough.

I wasn't saying he was the one who said that about Karlesson. I was just questioning whether they have the same "sources."

So many false rumors justified by pseudo-justifications - "it makes sense, really, because Montreal has Finnish players, and he wants to come play with them." But they're really just click-bait for the sports writers to get their numbers up so advertisers want to advertise on their "articles."

the fact that he coulnd't play with Drai, Nug AND MCjesus is quite concerning. Maybe he only wants to play with a Finn center ?
