This was not the team I've seen the past weeks.

Montreal needs to win that game on sarurday badly to gain sone confidence for the first playoff round.

I can't see them winning vs. Tampa without home ice advantage and a win on saturday.

Crazy game in Chicago last night, I presume crazy time before they hit their beds back home. They just didn't show up. Hope they do on Saturday.

But it's the playoffs that matter. No one will care about the habs starting at home if they lose, or starting on the road if they win.

They gave a ****** effort but i'm not bent out of shape about it. You get games like these these near the end of the season when you face eliminated teams. A lot of teams got screwed over by the Isles recently.

You are so right, There is so much going on behind the scenes right now, and it will be fun watching the play-offs. I'm just incredibly amazed at the know it all attitudes in this new world of internet forums.
I'm thinking about going back to the basics. Watch and have fun, reading all this crap here isn't fun at all. A bunch of knee jerk alarmists that wish they could change the world ,that are grabbing their dicks in-between posts to jerk off to porn just to check back and see if anyone re-acted to it. Go away..........

Lol @ posts like this that critisize people that critisize the team.

Chill out oh great board defender....

Hell I criticize the team too - I just don't get so dramatic about it as those who are already writing off the team and forecasting a short playoff exit, and firings, and hopes for certain players to be moved. This is a nightly phenomenon on these boards after a loss.

I wish I owned the crystal balls that these alarmists all seem to own........

Gorges is a great person though. :sarcasm:

But I thought what was holding Subban back was the lack of a true NHL defence partner. Or perhaps he's injured. Or perhaps its' the coaching. Or maybe he's just not as great as some of his supporters think he is. If you think he was treated unfairly by the fans tonight, think of their reaction after he signs that mega contract and his game and impact is no different than what we have seen this year. It's quite simple, teams know how to neutralize him offensively and exploit him defensively.

He played well tonight. Best dman on the team.

He played well tonight. Best dman on the team.

No one in the NHL can shake off coverage like he can. Yes he turns it over sometimes, but he turns trouble into potential far more often than not. How often does he get stripped of the puck versus how often he takes on forecheking while setting up a break? He shakes people after they've closed on him, or just before they seem about to, like almost no other D-man in the league. Elite forward level- Hossa, Tavares level with far less margin for error. He's Chris Chelios at 26. If we'd kept McDonagh to pair with him....

Subban doesn't have the easy stride that covers swathes of ice that Niedermayer did, but even Niedermayer didn't have his strength and figure-skater-tight reverses. In some ways he is unique in the NHL. Important ways. Like Price, this is a major piece of a winning core.

Islanders are 6-2-2 in their last 10 games without Tavares that is injured, Vanek that got traded and Potvin that retired.

I can. Where did home ice get us in 2002 with the Canes? 2008 with the Flyers? Last year with the Sens? Habs suck at home in the playoffs. And this year we're 13th in the league at home, one of the worst winning % of any playoff ranked team. 6th on the road though and only 1 shutout there but 5 at home. I'd love a win Saturday but it wouldn't bother me if the Bolts get 4 pts. in their remaining games to take home ice. We can handle it starting on the road. Look at how we jumped out to 2-0 series leads on the road in the past. It's always when we go home that things go downhill. Habs have only ever won 3 consecutive games at the Bell Centre in the playoffs once.

We didn't have home ice against Carolina in 2002...

That game was the Chevy Cobalt of hockey......a clunker.

P.U. that one stank it up. The boys had better put up a better effort Saturday to close it out on the right foot. I get it, they want Patches to score 40. But winning a game is more important. Not to mention they got NOTHING moving with puck movement, they were trapped, but this team has the speed to break that. They just didn't

tbf I've been critical of Therrien every game since last year so I'm hardly a lemming!

Makes two of us.
I voiced my dissatisfaction with the hiring of M.T. from the 1st day he was hired.
I still feel the same.

I didn't mind the hiring. I felt he was a good choice for the short term to reset the team and instill a solid work ethic. But his effectiveness is only good in the short term. And I believe that term is pretty much up this year. Even if this team makes the finals, an fresh face and approach will be best for our young players

Probably the worst game they have played all year and at a very bad time.

I certainly didn't like the performance last night but I'm not going to jump off a cliff. It was the second of back-to-back with travel and different time zone.

I expect them to play much better on Saturday and win.

No Tavares, no Okposo, no Grabner
At home and were dominated by an AHL team
Simply horrible.

Worst games of the year, in order:
1. vs LA: 6-0
2. vs Was: 5-0
3. vs NYI: 2-0

They are all at home

definition of an ambush game, clear the Habs had no legs from the 1st.

This is not an excuse. I could understand if this was an anomaly game. But Habs play like this a lot. Down to the competition. Don't dictate the pace of the game. Crap on the PP for MONTHS now. 1st line neutralized = no offense. We have 1 scoring line and the rest are grinding lines.

:help:

Also, the Islanders iced an AHL team. They were missing everyone and still made the Habs look putrid. Unacceptable.

The team is heading into the playoffs like they did last season, under Lord Therrien. Unprepared, sloppy and without fundamentals.

Kind of expected the outcome of this game. Terrible opponent, 2 games in 2 nights and it looked like the boys didn't want to get hurt. The 1st line tried to be too fancy and the 2nd line was nonexistent. Oh well, the playoffs can't start soon enough.

Actually, Montreal has played his best hockey at the end of this present season and one game doesn't change that, but you already know that.
