Armia has potential to be more than a bottom six guy. He's very inconsistent but has some very good skills. Now the only thing I don't know is that is it a case of a guy being buried or he's an all tools no toolbox type of guy.

If that's the case I take back what I said. I saw Armia a few times and liked him.. but I don't really see top 6 potential there.

Great move and the type Bergy should be making with his cap space.

Now retain on Mason and flip him elsewhere.

Honestly, I would expect us to parlay our considerable cap space into actual quality picks (1,2,3) and prospects. Not for 25 year old 3rd/4th liners. Not sure why everyone is so happy. Can't we do better than this ? Nothing was really gained today... we got something... I guess.. which is better than nothing and keeping the cap space.
Did you see how much cap space we have? We didn't commit beyond next year. Who says we're done taking bad contracts?

That's the thing. You either go all in. Or don't go at all. If that's a rebuild, Price AND Weber have to go. Then Molson will have to deal with the Bell Centre not being as filled up as it used to be for the next 2 years. But then, if everything else falls into place, it goes full blast for maybe a great 10 years to come. It needs to happen.

It won't happen. This is a retool, not a rebuild.

Have to think we dont do much in ufa now. We have what? 14 million left with Armia and Danault needing new contracts. Maybe Bergy doesnt want to be ridiculed for having cap space again.

No Tavares, no Stastny, I'm actually happy about that.

To be more clear, I would have absolutely loved JT here. But the fact he didn't could actually work in Habs' favor because it helps them focus more on the future.

To be fair, the Bell Centre was already not as full as it used to be this season. People will still go to the games during a rebuild as long as the ticket prices aren't too high and there are giveaways.

This is a good move. We acquired positve assets for nothing. Of course people will complain a usual but this is a smart move. I like Armia. He has shown steady progression over the last 3 seasons. He is no world beater but there is 2nd line upside there. He is already a quality 3rd liner on a contending team. I'm not complaining.
