It would actually be helpful at this point if the Canucks went into another swoon. Then by the trade deadline there'd be no excuses about gunning for the playoffs or 'rewarding the players' for their hard work.
Benning has guys on expiring contracts that he has to deal. And the sooner the better. If he lets all of his UFA's walk with no return, then the Canucks need a new GM.
