I'm no Storm fan but is Guelph was my ticket out of Flint I'd walk there if I had to!
I am feeling good about our playoffs adding entwistle and our injuries coming back. HOWEVER I will says this again one D will not be enough to get by 3rd round, so that makes it useless. If we really want a shot we need Gordeev and then another 2 D. I dont care how good out 4 lines are up front, Defence will dictate how deep we run in playoff hockey

hesitant power forward could describe Brazeau as he might have mixed feelings about leaving the batallion ... Butler is another Burnett trading buddy

Hesitant as in not wanting to come to "literally where?" Guelph. Good news about dealing with Flint is that they have no real leverage from what I can see, they'll hopefully be getting draft picks for quality players.
If chayka is moved then I pop a blood vessel.
yup...or Gogolev.

Going with the Saxon tweet - big defenceman = Gordeev and Dellandrea is the hesitant forward holding up the deal. But I gotta think they'd want prospects coming Flint's way, and I don't think we have any to offer.

Personally, I 'd like to see a couple of part 2's from the deals for Aguanno, Primeau and Bertuzzi come forward involving players that can help immediately and into the playoffs.

Just when I thought I could decipher your posts, you take it that one step further. Have no idea what you just said. Can you give us your thoughts?

Larry tweeted that GB said he will announce "tradeS" within the next 24-48 hours!!! We will know soon enough. Interview on CJOY during the second intermission. At the game so I won't hear it.

2nd intermission of the London game, they mentioned that they just got word that Entwistle is going to Guelph. Sounded like it was more substantial than just repeating the earlier speculation.

Is. Chayka going to be great? Yes. However the last two games where they have put him up the lineup due to injuries, he is not ready yet. I say “yet”. Moving forward he may be able to play against a 3rd or 4th line deep in playoffs but not against 1st and 2nd, not even close. I am going to keep on going. Lalonde is not a great defender. Have thought that all along but thought I would give him time, but it is only getting worse.

So, we have Samorukov and what other D are quality 3rd round playoff and further?? I just dont see it. I dont care how many big named forwards we get. If we dont change that D core we are done.

Stevenson blocks a shot and doesn't return. Lalonde gets headchecked into the boards and looked rough the rest of the game. I think he was bleeding when he finally had a chance to get off the ice, maybe #7 will bother blowing the whistle next time when a players ears are ringing and he's seeing stars completely incapable of following the play. Guess every good ref booked vacation time.

You are correct. Samorukov is far and away our only top-4 calibre D. No one else thinks otherwise. I am biting my tongue until after the deadline. There will 100% be defensemen coming in, we'll see about who and where they slot.

If Entwistle is brought in for just picks as a back half of the Betuzzi deal I'm pleased. I don't believe Bert will reach the ceiling of Entwistle. Obviously we need bodies while injuries heal and if you can pick up a WJ player for picks it's all good.

Not sure what I think of Gordeev if that's one of the D coming in. I've only seen a small sample size when Guelph has played Flint but I hope he has good character. Hard to judge individual players with Flint based on the situation.

Yeah, I was up top and had a good view of the hit on Lalonde... the side of his face was bleeding pretty good and he remained on the ice for quite a while - I was wondering why no whistle wad blown. Then again it seemed like quite a few whistles for routine plays were delayed (i.e. puck hits the mesh, ref blows whistle 5 seconds later while everyone is already stopped.) Prime vacation time I guess.

Is Jack Hanley not top 4 quality?
I see you guys picked up Phil Caron. He is good enough to play third pairing for us in the Soo. Don't think he will ever raise above 3rd pairing however so he lost his spot to a younger defenseman with a higher ceiling (Calisti). Hopefully that plays out well for us.

Hanley is out until March... he's steady but was being used to mentor/for character. I.e. a pairing with Chayka. Caron was in as an AP... he had a rough night, hesitant with the puck, poor handling and did not look OHL calibre. He is up because Guelph only had Woolley, Lalonde, Chayka and Terry on D... that's 4 defensemen, 2 rookies. They put Commisso on D for a bit.

With all due respect I dont think that Guelph is in the same boat as London or SSM at the moment (even with Entwistle)...I could be wrong though

I ĺove how the trolling starts with "with all due respect." Let's all wait until the deadline and see where the chips fall. Guelph is deep on forward with the add, they're just injured. (2 of the top 6 forwards.)

As it stands in the West my money is on SSM, so chat that one over on the London board LDN.

Trolling?

What is your motivation for the comment? Guelph has had top guys go down with injury like none other in the last two weeks. Kicking a dog when it's down? Pouting that you're out of cards? If you've been reading this thread you'd see that many have talked sell but it's an odd year based a lot on "off-ice" and character issues. Nobody knows what the conference will look like come March so don't play all "I come in peace but you don't have a chance."
