I have the urge to throw things at my TV every time Strinic touches the ball.
But saying his teammates don't respect him (when he is obviously the one the whole nation looks to) or that he's at fault for not "quarterbacking" them is off point.
Same coach who took worse Chile team to win Copa America and a great stint at Sevilla just prior to joining Argentina?
The problem is on the players and AFA mainly - too many fragile egos. I speculate that there are some cliques involved in the squad.
Sampaoli does exacerbate the issues in midfield. Pérez and Mascherano in central midfield is a joke when neither can pass. Banega and Lo Celso, who both offer better passing, more impetus and have both performed well for Argentina recently, are left on the bench?Yeah, Sampaoli has enough success under his belt to show that he isn't an idiot or terrible coach. But the deal with national team coaches is that they always get a lot of scrutiny. And Argentina is a particularly bad case. Argentina has had 8 national team coaches since 2004, 25 since Stabile's 20 year run ended in 1958. A coach who lasts past one 2 year cycle is the rare exception. It's a revolving door. And every time they wonder why they haven't won it all with a generation of players that never developed a great goalkeeper, defender or passing midfielder.
Prepare for Argentia's decline to be even worse.Expecting to read this headline any minute now:
Maradonna " I am ready to take over Argentina national team".
You would have hated the 98 teamWhat the **** does that even mean? You sound incredibly insecure. Croatia is a "dirty" team face the reality of things.
Does that make them bad? No. But they play like "C" words.

Too bad Biesla was just hired at Leeds.
Bielsa is a radical version of Sampa. He doesn't adapt, it's his way or the high way. Can't even begin to imagine the disaster the current crop of slow as balls argentinean midfielders trying to implement Bielsa style press-press-press football.

Then the fact that if there is an open revolt against him after 2 games it shows how much the players buy into what he is preaching.
The attitude of the players (& AFA) is going to continue to weigh the national team down, but
Sampaoli is a big part of the problem here as well.
I meant with Maradona as coach. After World Cup 2002 many thought Argentina will decline hard.
A new generation came and the older was quickly forgotten.
The difference here though is that this team is the worst since more than 40 years. The new generation of players it's unclear yet if they're going to have the same impact as the previous one. Argentina can't seem to develop good players other than attackers. And many of them are taking weird career decisions like going to Russia, China or the MLS. Argentina could be in for a real decline.
He thrives under pressure don't be fooled by this false narrative. See the last game of qualifiers with Argentina on the brink of not making the WC.
Please, God NOOO
