Roy has embarrassed his Team and his Nation for the last time. He should not see any more action in this tournament moving forward.

Canada won the last 2 games in spite of him :)

A goalie playing internationally for the first time, lets in a few softies in his first two starts and you say he's embarrassed the nation?

I agree that he should not playing next game and if Visentin has a good game, then roll with him the rest of the way.

To claim an 18 year old kid embarrassed his country by letting in a few goals is completely and utterly pathetic. Please go back under the rock you crawled out from.

Defensive ratings today:
Ellis: B+. Scored a goal, good on the PP and 5 on 5, but partially responsible for the 1st goal. His positioning at times can be suspect

Cowen: B+. Good movement, impossible to get by, good shot. Definitely the most improved returning player for any team.

Despres: A. Though he played really solid tonight, and really seems to be having a good influence on Gudbranson. Really like his game.

Gudbranson: B. Decent tonight, good 1 on 1 play, but fumbled the puck a couple times.

Olsen: B-. Better today, but still our worst D.... hes making the NCAA look like a pretty slow league as looks surprised by the game pace

Barrie: A. Quietly put together a very good night. Has really high hockey IQ, and doesn't turn the puck over. He is definitely looking to be the right pick for the 7th D, as I feel no discomfort in him now having to play a top 6 role.

DeHaan: No rating. Get better soon, we need you back

You've embarrased us with your grammar...are you really judging a kid from your couch? Lol I think you need to relax, he's been average so far but hardly embarrassing his nation

2 bad goals and 2 big saves so far cancel out, and he will continue to be the starter IMO until something really bad happens

Problem with this is he's not going to look poor facing 10 shots from Norway

I remember one good save. He really wasn't tested much.

Yup. First goal was a brain fart by Ellis, 2nd he should have had but by then the game was already 7-1.

It's not like the Brodeur-Luongo scenario where it took the team to a shootout to win a game against a weaker opponent.

YOW
depres-gudbransson was probably our best all-round pairing today.

ellis-olsen's problems have been well documented. Cowen-CDH were solid again today, but now CDH is injured. Good opportunity for Barrie, who i think has done very well through 2 games.

Nah man, he shouldn't have let any of those 4 goals in. Time for Visentin to take over and not allow any goals moving forward.

Olsen didnt suck the whole night long. He made one positioning error, and a couple errant passes. A C and D would be like the Czech defenders who let Eakin rush right by them

Yes, the goalie with a 3-0-0 record, 2.00 GAA and 0.921 Sv% in three preliminary and exhibition games is the weakest link on Team Canada. :dunce:

First goal was an awful play by Ellis, but Roy's play was just as bad. He had plenty of time after the giveaway to get set and to make the save, but failed to do so.

Second goal he actually ducked away from.

A lot of these Canadian junior teams have had a weakness in goal, oddly enough. It didn't matter most of the time. Tokarski was very shaky but still got the gold, Jeff Glass was never anything great and played behind an all-star group anyway (though add the NHL'ers of 18-19 years old and this year's team would be just as good if not better). Mason and Price have been the only two star netminders of the 5 straight golds era. Last year, an elite guy really would have been a big help. We'll see if either Visentin or Roy takes the reins. Goaltending like last year's will not get it done against the US again.
