No excuse for such a small showing. Didn't they adverstise during Sabres games at least?

What do you mean? This tournament is nothing like the Olympics or even Worlds (which would draw crazy crowds here). They definitely did advertise locally, but I doubt that makes too much of a difference.

It's just a fact that watching a bunch of 17-19 year olds play the 4th most popular sport in the country isn't going to be a huge draw. For example, this is on your countries equivalent of ESPN, for us you need the NHL Network (which you only have if you're a big hockey fan or you have it and don't even know it's there). ESPN has at the most minimal coverage of this event.

Sorry it's not up to the standards of Canada almighty. I'm not thrilled about it either, but it is what it is.

Not all the games sold out last year and the tournament was in Canada, whats your point?

Pretty sure all the canadian games did. Anyways theres no comparison. The World Juniors are only relevant in Canada. Everywhere else nobody knows what it is barely. The fact that Canadian residents bought just of 60% of the tickets is actually a bit surprising to me. That's a pretty solid number of non canadians.

I could go on, but don't think its necessary.

According to the IIHF, only the two USA/CAN games sold out.

This. Outside of the hardcore fans, no one outside of Canada really cares.

1) It was in a much smaller arena.

2) It looks like at least half of those sales are from Canadians.

You're right on both points, I agree with you.

But we should all regard it as a success then, regardless of what country you are. It's good for the tournament as a whole. Obviously hockey in the USA is nothing as grand as in Canada, but this is a pretty good hockey market in the US. Try having this tournament in Atlanta or Washington and it would really be bad.

IMO, they overpriced the USA games. Lower bowl seating is around $90 and the upper deck is $65 a seat for the prelim rounds. People around here won't pay that much for something they are not familiar with.

They really don't advertise the Juniors at all up here. I had no idea what time the game was on til I came on here.

Is it that surprising that it doesn't sell out in the U.S.? We have NHL, NBA, NFL, NCAAB being played and NCAAF bowl games coming up

US needs a goal soon, I don't think the Finns would come back down 2.

Ahhh! Gotcha. So how everyone outside of the US feels about the NBA, MLB, and Nascar.

World Champions!!!!

Well the Christmas day NBA games were televised in like 45 different countries. Can you say the same about hockey?

To be fair, a good percentage of Americans like myself feel the same about those god awful sports. Besides a Bulls game, I could never sit through an entire baseball game, basketball game, or Nascar meet or whatever they call it.

What am I looking for? Wheres the attendance? Anyways if it wasn't sold out it certainly looked sold out and the atmosphere was A LOT, and I mean A LOT better than this USA Finland game I'm watching at this moment.
