Kreider 3 goals.

USA wins 4-2.

I sure hope we can keep it that close.. then again I think we had a good game against canada considering we'd just had a 62 hour trip and hadn't played yet.. I'm going to say 5-2 same score as against canada, pulkkinen and vatanen with 1+1

I'm very interested to see how the US fares against Finland, given that Finland came close to beating Canada a few days ago.

5-4 USA. Hoping for Määttä to score a goal. How great would that be! But two is not going to happen. Vatanen will propably play solid defense, I guess he won't join the rushes too much unless Finland is down by more than two goals (or Finland leads by over than four :naughty:). Hopefully also Pulkkinen is fully fit to play after being sick and the Finnish team is ready from the beginning (and Ortio is having a good day). With these happening, we'll see a good and close game! :yo:

Going 4-3 US. I'm a bit torn on this one. I think the US will be out to have a big game to open it up on home ice. Finland is one of the few teams that I think could give the US fits though if the defense and goaltending are clicking. In the end, I think the US depth will just take over and pull out the win.

USA lost to Czechs, so not sure exactly how good they are at this tournament. In all honesty though, I don't know much about the Czech team, maybe they're just that good?

Either way, I'm gonna say 4-3 for Finland.

Close game through two periods. US will take a little while to get going. 1-1 US after two and then a couple goals in the third to make it 3-1

I'm assuming the Czechs threw out their "team". US top forwards did not get much ice time.

It's important that our first game is against USA cuz then we have great opportunity to surprise and win whole match.

I'll go 4-3 to Finland. Pulkkinen 2 goals, Rajala 1 goal and Salomäki 1 goal.

Also I wait to see Wild prospect Jason Zucker cuz he played already last year and this year he has produced lot of goals in NCAA. He's defenitely one of my favorite prospect even though I haven't seen him a lot but what I've been reading about him is really impressive.

Yeah, one should not read too much into the pre-tournament games, but it does give some kind of inclination as to what to expect. For example, Finland got blown out one year by Canada (forget the score but it was something like 8-1, etc). Sure enough, Finland was pretty awful in that tournament.

Vatanen not joining rushes would be weird. He is one of the best finnish defenseman (all ages) at breaking away with the puck.

the pre tournament games are meaningless in terms of who won and who lost. Judging relative strengths based on the results of these games is pointless.

Bob say these will be the lines for USA:

Team USA vs. FIN at 8. Expected F lines: Bourque-Bjugstad-Morin; D'Amigo-Nelson-Etem; Kreider-Coyle-Palmieri; Zucker-Shore-Brown; Callahan.
