I would actually lean towards trying to lock up Grigorenko for 3 or 4 years versus giving him a QO. This isn't so much because he's Russian as much as I expect the Sabres to save a lot of money in the long run by doing it early.

the kid's good.

Looks like we lost him.

Sounds like nonsense speculation that if he's not "good enough" to play on the team now with all these guys moved then he'll never make it in the NHL.

Grigo's just getting back from injury...

I expect to see him up, but not anytime soon.

He played his first game again, if he is physically ready, he should be our first call up.

Just because he's physically capable of playing hockey does not mean that he's up to speed yet, or that he shouldn't have a couple of games in the AHL before he comes back up. Of course, one could make the case that if he isn't quite up to speed yet, then he should definitely come up because the Sabres don't want to win, but it's probably more in the interest of his long term development if he has a couple of games in Rochester to get back into form.

As a side note, Grigorenko cannot gain an accrued season this year, which means that he will not be eligible for Group 6 free agency until he turns 27. This means that Regier's mishandling of Grigorenko has been partially mitigated. While the issue with his waiver exemption expiring this summer is still the case, it no longer matters that Regier sent Grigorenko down late enough during his first season that he was able to gain an accrued season towards free agency then.

Fair enough, but don't know who else we can call up though.
