Great second period by the Griffins. Had 4 PKs including a 5 on 3 and only gave up one shot.

Up 2-1 after Puempel deflected in a Saarijarvi shot pass. Young D is looking very good tonight, good o-zone plays by Cholowski, Saarijarvi, Sulak. Hicketts has been great on the PK.

Zadina all over the ice in his return, had a 2 on 1 he passed on that I wish he would have tried shooting on.

Griffins pull it out in the shootout. The Admirals goalie was the reason it even got that far, he was incredible all game.

Going to a Griffins game next Friday vs Chicago. Been to Grand Rapids once for a concert.. any recommendations for food and drinks? Also we are looking at an AirBnb because the hotels near Van Andel are booked or pretty high priced.

Any local advice would be great, thanks!

The BOB, Ionia Street, Commerce Street, Founders, etc. There are so many solid places to eat around Van Andel.

Stella's has great burgers if that's what you're into. HopCat is always fun. Founders is Founders. The BOB has a little of everything.

Or if you're looking for something nicer you could do Wheelhouse or Bistro Bella Vita.

All within a couple blocks of the arena. And there's plenty more than what I just mentioned.

-The Bob is ok. Nothing spectacular. Tourist trap more than anything.
-Stella's if you want a burger or like your whiskey.
-Hop Cat is always good but can be a long wait on game/event nights if you get there after 5pm.
-Grand Rapids Brewing company is probably the best beer/food combo you'll fine near the arena. Plus they have a game room in back.
-Best straight up food for not an outrageous amount of money is Rockwell Republic on Division. I highly recommend the Chicken and Waffles or the Naan Tacos. They also run happy hour specials on Friday nights on apps, sushi, and local brews from 4-6.
-Best tacos come from a hole in the wall place on Division called Taqueria San Jose. A little out of the way and not in the sexiest part of town but totally worth it for the pork tacos. They do have outdoor seating if its nice out by then otherwise they have VERY indoor limited seating. Best to call ahead and get take out. Watch out, the red sauce will clear you sinuses.

Other than that some other good options are:
-Brick and Porter on Monroe Center
-Cottage Inn is about 1/3rd mile east of the arena on La Grave off Fulton. Awesome Burgers and the Cottage fries are better than most gimmick fries you'll get from Hop Cat, Stella's etc.
-Big O's Café is a nice Pizza joint on Ottawa but is super small. Get there early.

Rybar in goal for GR tonight as they start their Texas 2-step road trip in San Antonio tonight. Megan (illness/vet) and Frk (upper body injury (day to day)/vet) are scratched tonight.

Terry wins it in the shootout. More of a veteran lead effort tonight from what I saw, was trying to watch the Wings and the Griffins at the same time when they were overlapping. Sateri was strong in the third/OT/shootout.

It's a little late now but the hotels in Grandville and Wyoming are cheaper than down town and you can just take an uber to the Van Andel.

Thanks everyone for the info! We will be using lots of it.. we found a cozy Airbnb in Ottawa Heights? I believe it's called. Said 2.5 miles to the downtown area so we can Uber.. hope we made a good pick but house looks nice and has solid reviews. Thanks again, looking forward to checking out a Griffins game and some Grand Rapids night life.
