This entire process is an insult to this industry's entire market. Way to piss off your entire demographic. Both sides should be publicly be-headed.

Are you ever going to stop!?
Personly i can't wait to see that aviator of yours removed because of "nonsense"
scaredsensfan said:So despite all evidence to the contrary, and continual failures, you put your trust of the league's future in a lying weasel like Bettman?
scaredsensfan said:Nice for Bettman regarding linkage. Luckily the players are the product and fans will gravitate to where the best players are. If Bettman continues to insist on 'linkage' then the players will simply start up their own league. You cant tell me that its more realistic for them to wait out several years if the NHL is worthless.
As I s aid, fans go to see the best lpayers in the world. Whatever league has these plaeyrs will be the most successful.
Even if they dont have the NHL calibre rinks at first, once fans start coming out to see them play, the owners will cave, what are they going to do? Hold empty rinks with no teams playing in them?

Second, No TV contract for this venue ( never)
Third, after investing their personal money just how much will each player ask to be paid? The same top players will demand the MAXIMUM pay all over again but this time the stockholders ( all the rest of the players ) would vote it down and the top players won't play. A dog eat dog player hockey league would be the result and with revenues way down players would be forced to pay themselves much less then even the 1.3mil offer.
THe current NHL must find a way to " not lose money" They must pay the players enough that the players won't start playing in any other league. If the players want a raise it of course must to tied to an overall better business proformance.
If the NHL does better then so will the players ( like every other freaking company)
A complete refusal to understand this basic business practice is at issue.
Let the players play fo MODO for 500,000 per and if he scores 90 goals and let him demand 3 million to play next year, see what MODO says after they look at their bottom line. ( good luck, and please don't slam the door on the way out )
The players will start their own league??? Are you kidding... you must be kidding...there is NO WAY these guys have the capital or resources to start their own league...once again I will say it, there is a major difference between writing the cheques, as vs cashing the cheques...these guys could never agree on how a league should be run, who makes what $$$ and who has to fork it all over to get it going, the players starting their own league only happens in the cartoons.scaredsensfan said:Nice for Bettman regarding linkage. struckmatch said:This whole notion of players starting their own league is the biggest joke I've heard throughout these entire negotiations. There is no way in hell that this new league would generate enough revenue to pay the players an average salary higher than 1.3 million, which is what the NHL is offering them.
hidy ho there neighbor.PecaFan said:You're forgetting the owner's latest offer. $48.6 million cap works out to $1.62 million on average, not $1.3, so that's the new number to use. And with a guarantee that the median salary wouldn't change.
as a seasons ticket holder, doesnt this team policy piss you off ?Sotnos said:They do? Down here they're giving refunds only if people request it as far as I know, and if you get the refund you lose your seats. With the interest I'm getting from them on my ticket money, they'll owe me a few rounds of playoff tickets by the time they start up again, which is the only reason I'm letting them keep it (that and the big discount I got for buying them in the first place).
Edit: forgot to add, to me it's a VERY bad sign if they're not having this meeting because there's "nothing to discuss". I expect the season to be cancelled shortly.
