Montreal is fine for forwards. They can afford to lose Drouin.Value seems fine
But Philly has a ton of forwards and needs their dmen. And yes Montreal needs a good LHD but they need more top line forwards, not to trade 1 of the 2 they have.
If we are trading Ghost I want back game braking talent. Drouin is fine player but not enough. I'd rather wrap 1st rounder or something with Ghost and bring back better player than Drouin.Mete is a non factor. Flyers don't need him, Flyers would not play him.
So it all comes down to:
Ghost
for
Drouin
One for one. Pure hockey trade.
If both GMs felt that it would improve their roster, it could very well happen that way.
Ghost having a down year and the emergence of Sanheim and Myers are the only reason we are even discussing this from the Flyers' perspective.

They badly need a number one blueliner on the left side. Gost addresses this as well as doubling as a PP Quarterback (also desperately needed)
On the flipside Gost is signed for four years to a good contract. You pay a premium for this. Flyers are looking to get younger and they get two good players to build with.
and possibly McdonaghI wouldn't say fine for forwards.. or else we would still have Sergachev.

Never trade a talented player on an ace contract in a bad year.
oh ya, it is known that Panarin wants to come in PhillyFlyers have the cap space to sign a higher end forward like Panarin, and then maybe trade for a defenseman.
Montreal: Drouin + Mete
Philly: Gostisbehere
Thoughts?

Philly isnt in a position to be trading defensemen for forwards. If Ghost goes, it needs to be a Top pairing Defensive RHD coming back at around the same age (no weber/petry).
I don't see a fit here.
Habs need to add to Mete, not upgrade from him. That’s a hard no for me.
Gostisbehere is not a for sure top pairing D man. He has very good offensive skills but his play in his own end as a D man is average at best. Certainly not known to be a shut down type D man and this means he is not a top pairing quality IMO. Drouin has issues in his game as well. Soft style but loads of skill.
What player matures more moving forward? Hard to predict. Gostisbehere has 2 years of maturity years on Drouin.
However, if the Flyers don't like how their D looks after trading Gost, then I get that. No deal that works. Habs are not adding Mete on top of Drouin. Were not adding anything
