Keeper value man "you have to give to get" rightttttt???? lol
Honestly though, the best player in the game is obviously worth a few top 20 players. I obviously paid alot but I've managed to stack my keepers to Malkin Crosby Couture Pietrangelo and Green. That's just the way it goes. Ovechkin obviously would fetch two top 25 players himself, therefore your trade offer is a joke. Give up two top 20 forwards, for !1! solid defenseman and an average fantasy asset on the decline and a very minor upgrade in goal. You're trade offer is a joke, as everyone else in this thread has agreed upon. It's time to learn how to value players, keep in mind keeper value too. Even if your league isn't a keeper league, it's the furthest thing from equal.
edit:
also, to this day, he still regrets that trade lol. Keepers are extremely important and are key to a successful team. Everyone I've talked to says I won that trade (enstrom got hurt the next game, and I picked up players from waivers to make up for datsyuk and nash's production). Definitely didn't get hosed, and it took me hours to convince him to make the trade.
No smart GM would ever give (2) top 25 players for OV in a non-keeper fantasy league. It's simple math.
Lets give OV the benefit of the doubt and say he puts up 50G 50A for 100P. Simple right?
To make this even easier for all you guys to understand, lets use the Sedin twins (both arguably top 25 players).
D. Sedin goes 40G 40A for 80P and H. Sedin goes 25G 50A for 75P
OV = 100P
H. Sedin + D. Sedin = 155P
You lose 55 fantasy points over the course of the year by doing that deal. And when the (2) players in question getting traded for OV are on different teams you have more roster flexibility to dress them on different nights and different teams, etc. as opposed to (1) player. Then what if OV gets hurt? There goes your 100P. If one of the (2) traded players gets hurt you still have the other players production.
In the proposed trade:
Ovechkin 100P
Hall 80P
=180P
Ryder 60P
Vrbata 60P
=120P
So right here he's losing 60P at years end if all players reach those numbers. I gave Hall and OV the benefit of the doubt as I doubt either reach those marks, but whatever. Vrbata and Ryder hitting 60P this year barring injury is basically a lock IMO.
Halak >>>> Schneider (FANTASY VALUE; I fully realize Schneider is an excellent goalie but he IS NOT A STARTER while Halak is. Halak is also on a 500x better team than Schneider).
Byfuglien = 40P, bunch of PIMs
Byfuglien + Ryder + Vrbata = 140P
OV + Hall = 160P
So at the end of the day hes trading roughly 20 points to upgrade his goaltending and defense. You're all really, really dumb for arguing that it's not worth it and are rather getting caught up in the OMMGGG OVECHKIN!?! name recognition BS. I'm patiently waiting for someone to de-bunk the logic I just graced this forum with
