If EP wants out due to a rebuild, the that really sucks, I'd still take that over the realistic alternative paths, but this is all pointless to discuss anyway.

This team clearly isn't going to rebuild, just like the same way they aren't going to dump 4-5 out of OEL/Boeser/Myers/Garland/Pearson before next season. Both fantasy scenarios are just that, pure fantasy.

If Ep wants out then there is no choice but to rebuild

Drance said on canucks talk yesterday that Pettersson wanted to sign long term but the Canucks didn't have the money, so he changed his demand and went bridge.

Hiding under WTG's bed...
so hoping for shit to hit the fan

Yeah, Benning had to set his priorities…getting Poolman, Hamonic and Dickinson all signed took precedence over locking up their potential 1C.
Jethro Bodine *NEVER* could get a 3C in 7 years (outside of Sutter handling that duty for a brief time before his body fell apart).

We know EP wants to win, so that might mean he would prefer a 1-2 year step back for long-term success vs what they've been doing. Especially if that plan can be well-defined and thought out. No idea where he's at.

It's certainly no slam dunk that bringing back all his perennial loser teammates is the way to go if you want to keep him and it's weird to think that's automatically his preference.

Recent reporting is indicating he wanted a long-term contract but the Canucks wanted him on a bridge deal. So as of at least the previous offseason, he wanted to be here long term. The last two seasons of his re-emergence as a force and the team's abysmal struggles have most likely shifted his perspective.

Recent reporting and drance ehh, very convincing, idk where y'all have been the past many years but nobody should be surprised EP wants out of this messy drama factory.

Remember when we let tanev Markstrom and Toffoli walk and all the players sounded pretty unimpressed?
Covid fiasco?
Signing pearson and miller over EP, hughes and horvat?

Tell more about how badly ep wanted to sign long term in Vancouver..

This is one the Canucks might win. Panthers have been underwhelming all year and are in tough to make the playoffs… 6 points out with 4 teams to jump and most teams have games in hand.

Bruce is a dead man walking. Bruce and the players know this....and it may take another 4-6 weeks to make the coaching change as they bring in Tocchet.

What kind of bush league practice is this? Why even keep Bruce around knowing he's done? Why even make a coaching change when they are probably going to be out of the playoff picture anyways?

Thanks Dreger, way to go out on a limb.

All-star break is three weeks away and also makes sense.

Team goes on 8 games winning streak leading into the all star. Panic sets in in the management team. No decision is made.

Awful goal, but that was some good work leading to it.
