:habs PLEKANEC AND KOSTITSYN TO NASHVILLE, CAMMALLERI TO ST-LOUIS

In a blockbuster trade, the Montreal Canadiens have traded forwards Tomas Plekanec and Andrei Kostitsyn, along with MTL 2012 3rd round pick, to the Nashville Predators for forwards Alexander Radulov (rights), Blake Geoffrion and Matt Halischuk, defenseman Charles-Olivier Roussel and NSH 2012 1st round pick.

In another trade, the Montreal Canadiens have traded forward Mike Cammalleri to the St-Louis Blues for forwards David Perron and Evgeny Grachev.

It was no secret that we were going for a rebuild and even if it was difficult to part with three solid veterans like Plekanec, Kostitsyn and Cammalleri, we feel that we got some very important pieces for our future. We are confident to bring Radulov over next season and we have high expectations for him. Perron is a young player who has already a lot of experience in the NHL and Geoffrion will be a fan favourite in Montreal. Roussel will continue his development with St-John Seadogs teammate Nathan Beaulieu. We are also very glad to add another 1st round pick in such a deep draft. Finally, Grachev is an interesting prospect with a high ceiling. We would like to wish Plekanec, Kostitsyn and Cammalleri the best of luck with their new team.

Sens get gritty with addition of Hannan

584-hannan-scott-get-110322.jpg

The Ottawa Senators, flirting with the playoffs in a season that most pundits labelled them as front runners for the first overall pick this summer, have made a trade to bolster their lineup as they continue their playoff push.

Scott Hannan was acquired from the Calgary Flames, in exchange for Nikita Filatov and Brian Lee.

"Nikita didn't work out as we were hoping, and we lost a low-risk gamble. Scott, however, gives us another veteran presence on the back-end and provides us with a player who is not afraid to get involved physically. We will continue to search for upgrades for our playoff push."

The Calgary Flames confirm. We think Filatov will get a fair shake here, in a low stress market. We wish Hannan the best in Ottawa.

We'll be doing a complete rebuild so anyone not a top prospect is available. I WILL NOT respond to any, "what will it take" messages. Looking for picks, top prospects, and young NHL'ers coming back.

And if you're going to make an offer for Nash or Carter, know I'm looking for a ton. Both are only 27 so they fit what we're trying to build. But if you bowl me over I'll listen.

Rentals available (looking for picks and/or prospects):

FORWARDS
Kristian Huselius
Sami Pahlsson
Vinny Prospal
Derek MacKenzie

DEFENSEMEN
Radek Martinek
Aaron Johnson

GOALIES
Curtis Sanford

Blues confirm Cammalleri trade. It's tough to give up Perron and Grachev, but St. Louis feels that they needed a true sniper, and that they acquired one in Cammy, who will hopefully be rejuvenated by the trade.

NY Islanders Players On The Block:
Mark Streit: He is our captain and is probably our best defenseman, but we have decided with the massive disappointment this season has became, it might be time to look at moving Streit. Of coarse we would need a return to make it worth our while, but if a good offer comes up he will be moved.
Frans Nielsen: Another player that is a big piece to the club, but we think that it might be best if we move on. With guys like Casey Cizikas & Johan Sundstrom coming up through the ranks we think he is becoming a bit expendable.
PA Parenteau: Has proved himself as a real solid NHL point producer. He is on a relatively cheap contract and has an expiring contract.
Evgeni Nabokov: He has proven that he can still play at the NHL level, and has looked like a legit number one goaltender.
Mark Eaton: Solid bottom-pairing defenseman, who has a ton of playoff experience.
Mike Mottau: Nice depth defenseman. He has a cheap contract that will expire at the end of the season, so if you just need a short-term depth fix he might be your guy.
Brian Rolston: Veteran forward that can be a nice addition to a playoff team looking for a leader looking for a leader.
Marty Reasoner: Solid bottom-six forward who can provide a nice two-way game. He can play in many situations and lead.

:habs TRADE BLOCK

DEFENSEMEN :
Andrei Markov (Modified NTC)
*Markov is a top pairing defenseman who could be an interesting gamble considering that I’m not asking full price because of his injury history. Of course, I’m not giving him away either.
Tomas Kaberle
*Kaberle has been very good in his role since he is with the team. If you are looking for a top pairing defenseman, he is not the right guy. However, if you are looking for a top 4 defenseman who can also help your PP, he may be an interesting option.
Hal Gill
*Gill is a great leader, a PK specialist and a very nice guy to have when it’s time for the playoffs. I’m looking for the best pick possible but I will answer to reasonable offers only.
Chris Campoli
*Campoli can be a solid depth defenseman and won’t cost much to acquire.
Yannick Weber
*Weber might stay with the team considering hi age and potential but we are listening to offers.

FORWARDS :
Scott Gomez (LNTC)
*Gomez isn’t in the plans of the team anymore. You can get him for another salary dump but I will not add to get rid of his salary.
Travis Moen
*Moen is having the best moments of his career. He is one of the best bottom 6 forward in the NHL and if I can’t get a good return, I will keep him around.
Matt Halischuk
*Halischuk would not cost much to acquire.
Mathieu Darche
*Darche would not cost much to acquire.
Petteri Nokelainen
*Nokelainen would not cost much to acquire.

The only real untouchable is Carey Price but obviously, I’m not looking to trade other young players unless it makes sense.

I’m looking to acquire young players, prospects and picks. QUALITY OVER QUANTITY

PM!

Taking final offers for Travis Moen. He will be traded tomorrow.

Some interest in Andrei Markov and Hal Gill so far but nothing imminent.

UPDATE : Gill has been traded.

PM!

Reasonable Addition

The Ottawa Senators have pulled off another trade, acquiring veteran Marty Reasoner from the New York Islanders in exchange for Nashville's 2012 3rd round draft pick (previously acquired in the Mike Fisher trade).

"Marty brings another veteran presence to our club and adds more grit to our already tough bottom six."

The Blues have pulled off another trade. They have acquired Tim Gleason from the Hurricanes in exchange for prospects Jake Allen and Stefan Della Rovere. We feel that Gleason will be a very good partner for Pietrangelo and we are excited to welcome him to St. Louis.

:habs GILL HEADING TO DALLAS

The Montreal Canadiens have traded defenseman Hal Gill to the Dallas Stars for forward Brett Ritchie and DAL 2012 3rd round pick.

It's always hard to let a gentleman like Gill go but this move was part of our rebuild. We are glad to add a prospect like Ritchie to the organization and we are happy to get a 3rd round pick in this year draft since our own 3rd round pick was traded to Nashville earlier today.

Avs are making Stastny, Duchene, Jones and Quincey and Hejda available. We're looking for quality not quantity, and would honestly prefer a one for one trade for a similar quality player.

We are looking to make the playoffs, and are looking specifically for a top-6 forward.

Lots of interest in Bobby Ryan. Would like to move him for a similarly aged and valued center but would consider a package involving a lesser valued center and another piece.

So far no interest has been shown in either Selanne or Koivu. Nor for Hagman or Blake who could provide cheap insurance for the post-season.

Toni Lydman is also available for anyone looking for a quality, veteran defnseman. Also listening to offers for Francois Beauchemin.

At this point it's looking very likely that both Getzlaf and Visnovsky will remain with the Ducks, at least until the draft.

The Washington Capitals are going to be going through a mini-rebuild. I would like to sell what I can at the trade deadline, even if it means missing the playoffs and then turn around and have a competitive team next season.

On the Block
Alex Semin
Mike Green
Mike Knuble
Jason Chimera
Joel Ward
Jeff Schultz
Roman Hamrlik
John Erskine
Tomas Vokoun
Dennis Wideman

Will cost a lot

Brooks Laich
Marcus Johansson
Colorado 1st round pick
Michal Neuvirth
Troy Brouwer

Untouchables
Alex Ovechkin
Nicklas Backstrom
Karl Alzner
John Carlson
Evgeni Kuznetsov
Dmitri Orlov
Braden Holtby

As you can tell I'm willing to trade almost everybody except for my young, core players. This team really needs a shake-up, so I wouldn't mind if everybody except for my untouchables were traded. PM me with offers!
