1 st round pick

Confirmed.

Wolski is someone who we weren't really keen on in the first place.

this deal gives us a solid defense, and a very deep top 9, and we add mid0late first which can always be helpful.

In another deal, the Montreal Canadiens have traded goaltender Jaroslav Halak and forward Andrei Kostitsyn to the St-Louis Blues for forward David Perron and St-Louis 2011 2nd round pick.

Comments to come later.
Confirmed, BTW, St. Louis signed Perron to a 2 year deal worth 4 million.

Sabres GM stempniaksen is calling it a day.

The organization hopes to have 2 deals announced by tomorrow morning, along with a slew of re-signings (UFA and RFA).

Still looking for a top-six winger (preferably a rental).

Horrible deal. HORRIBLE.

Perron >>> Kostitsyn
Halak > 2nd

This is just a bad deal for St. Louis.

Anaheim is looking to trade JS Giguere. We're looking for forwards and defense, prospects or otherwise.

There has been some interest in Niedermayer, we're looking for a top-4 dman, top-6 forward and a prospect or pick. The Dman and Forward can be high level prospects, they don't need to be roster players.

:preds

Nashville is looking to acquire a bit more offensive depth. We haven't made final decisions on retaining Hamhuis or not.

Horrible deal. HORRIBLE.

Perron >>> Kostitsyn
Halak > 2nd

This is just a bad deal for St. Louis.

We here in St. Louis believe Halak will be our #1 net minder for years to come. A 2nd for a goalie with talent like his is a steal.

I agree that Perron >>> Kostitsyn but Halak >>> 2nd. All in all, fair deal for both sides.

How so? You think he'd get a 1st on the trade market?

TRADE

To Florida Panthers
LW Clark Macarthur + D Chris Butler + BUF 2nd in 2010 + BUF 7th in 2011

To Buffalo Sabres
D Keith Ballard + LW Kendal McArdle + FLA 4th in 2011

Ballard is a hell of a dman but the Panthers just worry that at his price his struggles this year might be a sign of bigger issues.

The Sabres confirm.

We paid a high price for the guy, but we truly feel like he is the perfect fit on this roster. He is already a solid #2 guy who still has some potential left in him, but even if all he ever is is a #2 the trades still works out on our side.

As far as future moves are concerned the Sabres are looking to add a top-six forward (preferably a cheap rental as cap space is limited). Players up for grab in such a deal would be Tony Lydman, Andrej Sekera, Steve Montador, Nathan Paetsch, Adam Mair, Matt Ellis and maybe Henrik Tallinder or Jason Pominville.

Interesting prospects that are up for grabs in the right deal are Enroth, Weber, Brennan, Gragnani, Schiestel, McNabb, Persson, Biega, Foligno, Jokinen, Tropp, Whitmore, Legault, Eidness, Eno, Knapp.

I'm likely not going to be trading my 1st in 2010, but if you are offering up a top-four defenseman, or top-six forward signed beyond this year than it could be involved.
