TRADES MAY NOW BE SENT IN. READ THE RULES.

Commishioners

Basic Rundown

  • There will be 30 GMs, 1 for each team. We ask that you do not sign up if you do not plan on being active daily.
  • The time that this game hypothetically takes place in is the trade deadline of the 2009-2010 season. After the deadline has “passed”, we will vote on playoff seeding, as well as the winners of each playoff round until we get a Stanley Cup winner. After the Stanley Cup voting, we will have an off-season, complete with the Entry Draft, Free Agency, and additional trades.

Salary Cap

  • The salary cap for the trade deadline until the end of the playoff voting is going to be $56.8M
  • We will be using capgeek.com to find our players pro-rated cap hits.
    1) Find the player's Daily Cap Hit on CapGeek.
    2) Multiply said players daily salary by 40 (The # of days remaining in the season at the trade deadline)
    3) Subtract this # from the player's total cap hit and allow this # to continue to count against your cap total
    4) For any player you are acquiring, use this same method (Daily cap Hit*40) and this is the pro-rated cap hit of your new player.
  • It could get complicated for some, so PM a commishioner if you have any questions or if you need the caculations to be made for you.
  • The salary cap for the 2010-2011 season will be determined later.

Waivers/Buyouts
  • Post in this thread if you'd like to place a player on waivers.
  • Only 1 veteran per team will be able to be sent to the minors due to cap reasons and only 1 buyout will be allowed per team.
  • The lowest team in the standings in real life gets highest waiver wire priority.

Trades
  • All trades must be sent to IslesRock4 and GOGOgadgetGuinos or else they are not valid.
  • Once a trade is agreed upon, send it in BEFORE POSTING, and then you can announce it in the thread. A deal without a NTC or NMC does not have to be approved.
  • If a trade is announced prior to it being sent in, it will be vetoed.
  • ALL MOVES MUST BE SOMEWHAT REALISTIC. Washington will not trade Ovechkin, Pittsburgh will not trade Crosby, etc. The commishioners hold the power to veto any ridiculous trades.
  • A trade involving a NTC or NMC must be approved by BOTH trade managers prior to posting. Keep in mind it will only be on a rare occasion that a NTC or NMC is waived.
  • If a trade involving a NTC or NMC is announced before approval, it will be vetoed.
  • If a team does not have enough cap space to acquire a certain player, the trade will be vetoed.

YOU CAN SEND ME RFA OFFERS

:nhl
Restricted Free Agents

Rules

  • You are responsible for qualifying your own players. If you do not qualify a player, they will become an Unrestricted Free Agent. However, in certain cases, high profile players will be automatically qualified. A player cannot become an UFA due to an inactive GM.
  • You must come up with an offer. Do NOT send a PM to the RFA agent asking how much money a players wants. You will be ignored.
  • If you wait to the last second to make offers to a player and you low ball the offer, the player will go to free agency as a Restricted Free Agent and seek an offer sheet.

Qualifying Offers

  • Players who earned less than $660,000 in the previous season must be offered 110% of last season's salary.
  • Example: Aaron Gagnon’s contract paid him $575,000 last year. His qualifying offer would be $632,500 ($575,000 X 1.1).
  • Players making up $660,000 to $1 million must be offered 105%.
  • Example: Colin Fraser’s contract paid him $700,000 last year. His qualifying offer would be $735,000 ($700,000 X 1.05).
  • Players making over $1 million must be offered 100%.
  • Example: Shane O'Brien’s contract paid him $1,600,000 last year. His qualifying offer would be $1,600,000 ($1,600,000 X 1).
  • A player’s cap hit is not the same as salary. Make sure you are using salary to determine qualifying offers.
  • Example: Fabian Brunnstrom’s cap hit last season was $2,225,000, but his salary was $875,000. His qualifying offer would be $918,750 ($875,000 X 1.05).

Offer Sheets

  • We never developed a good system for arbitration. Therefore, there will be no arbitration. If a qualified player makes it to free agency without a contract, he will be eligible to receive offer sheets.
  • Depending on the volume of qualified players in free agency, the agent for restricted free agents will accept offer sheets from opposing teams.
  • Once an offer sheet is signed, the player’s team has 24 hours to match or reject an offer.
  • In the event an inactive GM does not respond to an offer sheet, the league commissioners will decide for the team. This is to keep the game as realistic as possible. If Andrew Cogliano signs an offer sheet for under $1 milllion, an inactive GM will not be the reason he goes to a new team.

Draft Pick Compensation for Offer Sheets

Amount | Compensation
$994,433 or below|None
$994,433 to $1,506,717|3rd round pick
$1,506,717 to $3,013,433|2nd round pick
$3,013,433 to $4,520,150|1st and 3rd round pick
$4,520,150 to $6,026,867|1st, 2nd, and 3rd round pick
$6,026,867 to $7,533,584|Two 1st's, one 2nd, one 3rd round pick
$7,533,584 or above|Four 1st round picks

*The amount is determined by taking the total compensation due in the Offer Sheet, and dividing by the number of years specified in the Offer Sheet, or five (5) - whichever is less.

Example: A 10 year offer sheet worth $50 million results in Four 1st round picks as compensation instead of a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round pick.

*You must use your own draft picks as compensation. If Anaheim offers a qualified player a contract worth $2.5 million, the Ducks must hold the rights to Anaheim's 2nd Round Pick in 2011 before the offer is official.

Entry Level Contract

Salary (NHL & AHL)

Under the new CBA, the total maximum NHL salary, signing bonuses and games played bonuses for rookies from each draft class are:

2005: $850,000
2006: $850,000
2007: $875,000
2008: $875,000
2009: $900,000
2010: $900,000
2011: $925,000

Maximum AHL Salaries under the current CBA started at $62,500 for 2005-2006 draft years, increasing by $2,500 every two years.

2005: $62,500
2006: $62,500
2007: $65,000
2008: $65,000
2009: $67,500
2010: $67,500
2011: $70,000

Signing Bonus

Starting with the 2005 draft class, the new maximum signing bonus is just 10%.

2005: $85,000
2006: $85,000
2007: $87,500
2008: $87,500
2009: $90,000
2010: $90,000
2011: $92,500

Games Played Bonus

The difference between the maximum salary (which includes signing bonus & games played bonus) and the minimum salary is just $400,000. Therefore, the games played bonus in any year can never be greater than $400,000. Furthermore, assuming a signing bonus is provided, the games played bonus can not exceed $400,000 less the signing bonus. Below are the minimum NHL salaries in a given year.

2005-06: $450,000
2006-07: $450,000
2007-08: $475,000
2008-09: $475,000
2009-10: $500,000
2010-11: $500,000
2011-12: $525,000

Individual “A” Bonuses

Per Exhibit 5 (1), “The maximum amount payable for any single category of Individual “A” Bonuses identified below is $212,500 per season. (For example, an Entry Level SPC may not contain bonuses of $212,500 for 20 goals and an additional $212,500 for 30 goals, provided, however, it may contain a bonus of $100,000 for 20 goals and $112,500 for 30 goals). An Entry Level SPC may contain any number of Individual “A” Bonuses; however, a Player may not receive more than $850,000 in total aggregate Individual “A” Bonuses per season. Individual “A” Bonuses are payable by the Clubs as opposed to the League).”

(a) Forwards

(i) Ice time (aggregate and/or per Game). Player must be among top six (6) forwards on the Club (minimum 42 Regular Season Games played by Player and comparison group). (Note: an Entry Level SPC may contain bonuses for both aggregate and per Game ice time; however, the maximum aggregate amount the Player may receive on account of the ice time category is $212,500.)
(ii) Goals: 20 Goal Minimum
(iii) Assists: 35 Assist Minimum
(iv) Points: 60 Point Minimum
(v) Points Per Game: .73 Points per Game Minimum (minimum 42 Regular Season Games played)

(vii) End-of-Season NHL All-Rookie Team
(viii) NHL All-Star Game (selected to play or plays)
(ix) NHL All-Star Game MVP

(b) Defensemen

Categories are the same with the addition of blocked shots (top 2 on Club). The thresholds vary for blueliner categories:

(i) top 4 defensemen for ice time
(ii) 10 Goal Minimum
(iii) 25 Assist Minimum
(iv) 40 Point Minimum
(v) .49 PPG
(vi) Top 3 +/- among defensemen

(c) Goaltenders

(v) Shutouts: Shutouts >= median number of shutouts of all goaltenders
(vi – viii) End-of-Season NHL All-Rookie Team, NHL All-Star Game (selected to play or plays), NHL All-Star Game MVP

Individual “B” Bonuses

Exhibit 5(2): “A Player and Club may also negotiate individual bonuses payable by the Club for the League-wide Awards/trophy Bonuses and League Performance Bonuses set forth below, except where specifically stated otherwise, in amount to be individually negotiated between a Club and a player (the Club and Player could agree to pay more, or less than the amounts payable by the League, set forth below). The maximum aggregate amount that a Club can pay a Player (in addition to any amounts paid by the League to such Player) on behalf of a Player’s Individual “B” Bonuses is $2 million per season. There is no limit on the quantity (as opposed to the dollar amount) of League-wide Awards/Trophies and League Performance Bonuses a Player may receive from the Club.”

Pens looking for rental top-6 wingers. PM!

Also, we're please to annouce the following signings, negotiated by BigG44:

Kris Letang: 3 years for $7.5 million ($2.5 million/year)
Jay McKee: 1 year for $800,000, NTC
Nate Guenin: 1 year for $500,000
Nick Johnson: 2 years for $1.2 million ($600,000/year), 2-way Year 1
Joe Vitale: 2 years for $1.2 million ($600,000/year), 2-way Year 1
Ben Lovejoy: 1 year for $500,000
Deryk Engelland: 2 years for $1.1 million ($550,000/year), 2-way Year 1
Sergei Gonchar: 3 years for $12 million ($4,000,000/year)

We're very happy that Sergei wants to be part of our team for the rest of his career. We hope that our powerplay can right the ship at some point this season.

We'd also like to announce the firing of assistant head coach, Mike Yeo. We have began our search for someone who can coach our powerplay back to respectability. Willing to take suggestions from fellow players?

Kovalchuk sweepstakes

Kovalchuk will be traded!

In return, the current asking price is 4 assets which are:

1 good young roster player
1 good young roster player or top prospect
top prospect or 2010 1st pick
2010 1st pick

2 teams so far has made a offer (and it has all 4 assets so you need to beat that out), it's a good one and we do like it. We are waiting for more.

Pavel Kubina is also available. Looking for a good prospect + a good pick in return. We have 1 offer right now.

Maxim Afinogenov, Nik Antropov, Slava Kozlov are 3 other good top 6 foward that are available.

Colby Amrstrong is also on the block. Can be a great player come playoff time for any contending team.

Goaltender Kari Lehtonen is also on the trading block.

Looking to acquire a top 6 right winger, along with a tough top-4 defenseman that can lay opponents out.

All roster players will most likely be kept atleast until the offseason.

Prospects Seymon Varlamov, Karl Alzner, John Carlson, Oscar Osala, Marcus Johansson, Stefan Della Rovere are not available. All other prospects + all 2010 draft picks will be made available to acquire our teams needs.

Anton Volchenkov is also on the block.

Looking to acquire more 2010 picks + forward prospects.

San Jose Sharks

The Sharks have made a huge trade that will shock the hockey world! The annoucement is on hold pending league approval.

The Sharks will be on the market for a top 6 winger and also a good young goaltender.

Foward Torrey Mitchell is on the trade block hoping to land one of these need.

The Montreal Canadiens have fired General Manager Bob Gainey.

We would like to hire Patrick Roy to replace him.

Also, Big G wanted me to pass on to everyone that he won't be home until late tonight due to a meeting, so he likely won't respond to any PMs til tomorrow morning.

The Montreal Canadiens have made a few trades and two of them are waiting for approval due to NTC being involved.

We have also re-signed two key UFA to be and a lot of RFA. The details will likely come tomorrow morning since I will have to leave shortly.

We are looking to give this team a REAL IDENTITY. We don't want to make a team full of Quebec born players but we really want more of those players with the team. We are looking for heart and skills. We are looking for devoted players who are not scare of the pressure and who want to play in Montreal. We will also take a close look to products from the QMJHL.

We are looking for a full rebuild. In the past, most of the dominant teams were built around top picks in the draft. We don't want to take quick solutions anymore. We will try to do it as fast as possible but we are going for a complete rebuild. However, it doesn't mean that we will make a team full of prospects and picks. Right now, our priority is to get younger (and better hopefully). KEY WORD : CONSISTENCY.

Carey Price is the guy we will build the team around. He is the ONLY untouchable on the team.

Mike Cammalleri, Brian Gionta, Maxim Lapierre, Travis Moen and Josh Gorges will likely stay but we are willing to listen to offers.

-Scott Gomez : Like Kostitsyn, Gomez had a slow start. However, he was playing a solid two-way game night after night. He doesn't take any shift off and since 20-25 games, he is producing at a pretty good rate. We want good value in the deal but we are also ready to take a salary dump for salary purposes.
-Georges Laraque : Laraque could be traded for a late pick.
-Sergei Kostitsyn : Like his brother, we will not get rid of him. He doesn't have the same stats than Andrei but he is working very hard since his call-up. He knows what it takes to play in the NHL and his talent was never a question mark.
-Matt D'Agostini: D'Agostini would benefit from a change of scenery at this point. However, we are not looking to get rid of him since he could end up being a solid goalscorer in the league. He could be used in a package deal.
-Jaroslav Spacek: Spacek is an underrated veteran. He has a great shot on the PP, has a good all-around game and he is an awesome leader in the locker room. He would be the perfect fit for a team looking to solidify their top four for the playoffs.
-Hal Gill : Gill is a PK specialist and a great leader to have around. Once again, he is a great guy to have for the playoffs. He was used in key situations with the Penguins last season when they won the Stanley Cup.
-Paul Mara : Mara is an useful veteran and he will be an UFA at the end of the season.
-Max Pacioretty : Pacioretty will only be dealt for a Quebec born player (or QMJHL) with similar potential. He could also be dealt in a package deal for a top player. Depending of the moves we will make, he is more likely to be traded in the offseason. Incredible offers only!
-EVERY PICKS ARE AVAILABLE EXCEPT OUR 2010 1ST ROUND PICK
-EVERY PROSPECTS ARE AVAILABLE EXCEPT PK SUBBAN, LOUIS LEBLANC AND GABRIEL DUMONT

PM!

Don't ask-Richards, Giroux, Gagne, JVR, Pronger, Timonen, Carcillo, Betts, Emery(unless you're offering an upgrade in goal)

Overpayment-Briere, Carter, Carle

Available-Coburn, Parent, Hartnell(does have a NTC), Syvret, Asham, one of Boucher/Leighton, every prospect except Eriksson(some will cost more than others)

Looking to keep the core of my team together, and pick up another top 6 winger to play on our 3rd line. Most of the guys listed as available are available in the offseason. We are looking to add a top 6 winger for the deadline.
