opposing fans be killing Hughes. Hopefully he gets that +/- up. Seth Jones also seems to be off to a terrible start to the season

Seth Jones is 10gf 14ga at 5 on 5. For the minutes he plays that’s not a lot.

Hughes is 15gf 26ga at 5 on 5 in baby shit soft minutes.

Rightfully so. He’s a horrible defender. Maybe top 10 worst in the NHL. Fantastic at putting up points. Great guy to have in your hockey pool, terrible guy to have on the ice defending.
Too small, out of position, inability to eat pucks.

Pulling the 'ol Boeser reverse jynx? I like it Johnny, I like it. Keep it comin'.

Norris next year for Quinn.

Whats your point.?... before every season, every GM and coach in the league (in every sport) announces they want their team to improve..?..
You're not treading any new ground here.

so when nobody improves, should they not be held accountable for that? No consequences ever for anything?

hope so.l but highly doubt it. Minus players don’t win Norris trophies. QH has been a minus player everywhere he’s played.

Looking at +/- is a very bad way to evaluate a player. Let's instead look at his stats in his rookie year to this year and see if he's really that bad defensively.

Quinn Hughes 2019-20
CF% 52.6% (1st)
CF%Rel 6.41 (1st)
FF% 52.1% (1st)
FF%Rel 4.83 (1st)
SF% 50.95% (1st)
SF%Rel 4.71 (1st)
xGF% 52.85 (1st)
xGF%Rel 7.3 (1st)

Quinn Hughes 2020-21
CF% 47.58 (3rd)
CF%Rel 0.21 (4th)
FF% 47.11 (5th)
FF%Rel -2.01 (5th)
SF% 45.5 (7th)
SF%Rel -1.89 (4th)
xGF% 43.23 (7th)
xGF% -11.33 (6th)

So definitely something is up. It might have to do with Tyler Myers and Jordie Benn dragging him down. That's what I would put most of the blame towards. But the reality is he needs to be better defensively and he needs to get a better partner. Losing Tanev was absolutely huge. This guy was so underrated it's crazy.

I say Canucks win a squeaker 2-1, Hogs with both, and Andersson gets his from a wrist shot from the point we deflect

+/- is way too volatile to pay any attention to over short sample sizes, even any whole season. Top players on losing teams are gonna take all the empty net goals against, all the risks to catch up.

Hughes has been great this series. Half second left in the PP on Pearsons goal, Bo drops to nobody, NS scores on himself. None of this changes how he played, yet leaves a negative stat. Sometimes the deck is just cold. He's looking wayy better than the start of the season, time for some others to join in..

There’s a reason why the plus / minus stat still exists. Sure there are gonna be times he gets a minus that isn’t deserved .... and times he’s gonna just step on the ice and gets a plus. It all evens out. There’s a reason why certain players are career plus and others always minus. Different teams and different partners etc. He’s very bad at defending.
