This teams D is so bad, it has been for years it's not the structure, they brought in a defensive guy named Brad Shaw in 2021 who was supposed to fix it and couldn't, the players are trash simple as that. This is on JR not the structure, get the coach better players and do your JOB JR.
Wave that magic wand and get rid of OEL and Myers?

The D is not fixable with this group of forwards. They'd need two prime Webers to make up for the lack of defensive ability in the forward group alone.

Rathbone with another bonehead move, 7ft giraffe gets hit off the puck by a child, and everyone else leaves dach wide open..

Wild stuff.
Not to mention we reversed the puck 5 ft from the blue line with one Canadian pressuring the puck carrier while there’s no one to pass to through the neutral zone.

There’s no way this core group is winning anything. This needs to be torn down and build a core group that can win. I say build because the management is too scared to say rebuild. There’s no saving this.

Montreal got full advantage from the home crowd there who probably influenced the refereeing a bit because man it was terrible. They were the better team in the first two periods largely on the back of getting numerous undeserved power plays, but Vancouver was the better team overall. Demko just has to make some saves.

How is it Bruce got this page to play decently for 2/3 of a season last year?
Was Brad Hunt that much of a diff maker on D?
Its amazing, they look worse than they did under Green at this time last year

its the roster, Bruce has a good history of being a good reg season coach, this core has a good history of sucking.

Exact same performance as against Ottawa, but got the result they deserved. First 30 minutes were pathetic, last 30 they outshot Montreal 24-9 and hit 3 posts but it wasn't enough.

Another .827 goaltending performance from Demko. Guy is an absolute sieve right now. Starting to get legitimately concerning.

Boudreau keeps benching kids, but the critical mistakes keep coming from the same Myers/Pearson/Miller group of players.

Studnicka was decent again. Hoglander showed life but still is handling the puck like a hand grenade - good that he scored, though. Schenn solid again. Bear showed well again. Pettersson was good on the PK. That's about it.

Myers and Pearson are absolute boat anchors right now.

Kyle Burroughs was our best defensive defender for the first 8 games of the season. Comical to be watching these terrible defensive performances while he sits in the press box.

Rathbone, at this point, is not an NHL defender. Just a total hot mess defensively.

Boudreau looks confused and lost. Bizarre roster decisions. Zero on-ice structure. Management doesn't want him here. Why is he still here?

Rebuild is definitely needed. The culture of the team has sucked for a few years now. A complete overhaul makes the most sense.
