Why did he play in Edmonton and Calgary if this happened in Vancouver?

Maybe it's because the swelling got worse? You know, the rational answer, unlike what other people are giving you.
No one forgot him, he's still injured and not playing in Hartford.Did everyone just forget about Diaz lol? He is the most likely call up, no?
Still would prefer to see Skjei

If AV wanted to call up a right-handed dman, what are the options? Hughes? Calle? Not much to choose from.
Hughes can probably handle bottom pairing minutes better than G can with a bummed leg.
But it's the perfect opportunity for Skjei.
Wouldn't the swelling only get worse if he played? The rational answer would be to have him rest his bummed leg.

Girardi is right-handed, and Skjei is left-handed. Only reason why they might not.
I wouldn't put it past management and PR that this is an opportunity to 'sit' Girardi without embarrassing him or looking desperate. Using the guise of a knee injury and allowing Skjei to step in for a couple games for a serious look.
It's very possible he is actually banged up and needs a couple games off, but you have to question all theories especially after how brutal he has been for a long stretch of this season.
That and that we were a continent away from Hartford and had a back to back, not much time for the call-up to make it out and be in a position to play well.
