Does a new coach come with a time machine to age back Malkin and Letang by 5 years?

If not, it's not going to make a difference.

The coach is still coaching like it's 2017. If you get a coach that will slow the game down instead of playing like the pens are the fastest team in the league then we might see different results.

But I fully expect to see a dozen or so multi goal leads blown in the third like last year because the coach refuses to trap it up.

The Pens were 10th on the power play in Kessel's first year in 2014-15. They were 16th in 2015-16. It wasn't until 2016-17 that they jumped to a tie for 2nd in power play percentage and stayed elite for a few years.

I don't want to be this guy but he didn't play for us in 2014 2015. His first 2 years we won both cups

No they're pretty related. This team lives and dies based on its core. Changing the coach isn't going to make a difference if the core can't cut it.

And once again, our shots are a million and we’ve had maybe two half chances. This isn’t bad finishing, this is systematically bad offense.

Because all Sully cares about is expected goals. If you shoot 50 times, even if they are low danger chances, you’ll have a colorful high expected goal chart. Then you can say “most nights that would be enough to win” 50 times a year and keep your lifetime position as czar of a fading team.

It’s bizarre how we follow the same script every game and people want to blame the players even though we’ve done three full roster overhauls.

Anyways, it’s obvious EK65, Letang and Malkin are getting the scapegoat this year for our pathetic coach.

If they struggle generating chances and scoring while playing their current system, you might as well plan on them getting shut out once every 4 games if you switch them to a defensive system.

The only you’ll notice about Eller this season is that it will be February and he’ll have scored like 2 goals.

I remember we looked pretty bad in preseason too last year and then actually started the regular season out pretty strong. Just feel like this team doesn’t give a damn about preseason.

They really didn't struggle last year to score goals. They struggled to keep leads. If they kept even half of the multi-goal leads they earned then they would have easily made the playoffs. But they couldn't. Because Sullivan refused to slow the game down and sit on a lead. It was skate skate skate and the oldest team in the league couldn't handle it. It's 100% a coaching problem.

They finished 17th in goals for last year. They absolutely struggled to score goals last year. What are you talking about that their issue last year was holding onto leads? They were below average both offensively and defensively.
