No they won’t. Ridiculous to judge by this game. We beat Slovakia in regulation, Canada did not but Canada defeated Latvia 6-0. Which means…. Nothing for our upcoming games.
I am judging on overall quality of our and swiss lineup.

Big upset 2 points for the Latvians. Gives them a realistic pathway into the quarters (the Swiss are making it tough by holding serve thus far but depending on how it shakes out, that last game in the group on May 23rd could be the big one).

What a pathetic game. Worse quality than 1st Czech league RS match.

Overall, this tournament is just full of poor players who lack quality. Sad to see.

Finally, now we need to not lose to Kazakhstan or Slovenia, like it usually happens :DD. But overall, Latvia just wanted to win more, they moved better and that's what decided the game. Interesting how all the goals were scored by the "depth" players, and not the usual suspects, hope that continues and the leaders join in too :DD

If the Czechs beat Slovenia and Norway, Latvia needs to take at least two points from the game vs. Switzerland, plus all 9 points from the Kazakhstan, Slovenia, Norway games of course. And hope the Czechs lose to both Switzerland and Canada. That will be a difficult task for Latvia. Probably their best chance is the Czech losing points vs. Norway, which can happen under certain circumstances.

I would say difficult is an understatement.

Interesting and touching epilogue to this game - the Czech ambassador to Latvia was at the game and when she came back to the Embassy there were a bunch of home fans waiting there to wish GGs and lay flowers there, which is apparently a Latvian tradition to ease the wounds of the defeated

bump, highlights not so helpful tbh
After few more games now, I'd say he looks much sharper than last year for example, close to his prime. While Indrasis is definitely just a shadow of his former self, Daugavins managed to bounce back still. Considering his extremely stocky complexion, maybe he was simply slightly out of shape last year.. While not a star, still a solid B-grade forward in Euro leagues.

Thanks. Agree, just watched game against Slovenia. What a bomb. At some point he was basically standing just before he took a shot without any screen lol. Player of the game too. Sure its only Slovenia but still, happy to see it
